PS3 webMAN-MOD users: donations needed!

Maybe someone could make a post about the situation over at r/ps3homebrew and at r/ps3hacks. The user base of those subreddits is quite big. I'd do it myself, but I recently got rid of my Reddit and would like to avoid creating one for the time being (I'll create one if no one else has an account).

@aldostools I just donated what I could.
I wanted to donate you someday and this day came for an emergency. Thanks for everything.

Offtopic: I knew your name from somewhere else... and then I discovered that I follow your work since PS1 Emulators for PC. I visited your website and I remembered the layout, the tools and plugins for Bleem, VGS, etc... you even had Sidewinder Gamepad profile.. I loved that gamepad, I still have.. I wish I could adapt it to a USB because it's no use right now, because there's no input port for it in PC anymore.

Thank you for your donation. :eagerness:

Yes, I have been around PSX scene for a while :D Try finding an USB adapter in Amazon or eBay. Maybe this:

What's the progress on getting a new console or fixing your current one? I might try to send a small amount your way sometime or the other if you're still not there.

BTW, thanks again for webMAN Mod and IRISMAN. They make a lot of things easier with my PS3!

The sought donations target to replace Aldo's console has not yet been reached afaik.

Any contribution from wMM (and other tools from Aldo) users is welcome even if it is a single buck.

And I think we should try to get Aldo a proper setup too, not just the best possible deal or any console at any cost but one that's purring.. Lol

I was wondering @aldostools, you said you would prefer a slim 25xx if possible, but would you consider a DECH debugging station for instance?
Both would be nice.. Lol

I don't think I would need a DECH. I never converted my systems to DEX. I used to debug using Cobra debug or using my own tools or old school debugging methods. So a CEX system is fine for me.

I mentioned a slim 25xx (CFW compatible) because it is the model that I have broken and it could be used for parts if necessary.
Other models would work for me too (20xx, 21xx or even phat). I prefer the slim because it is lighter and has lower power consumption.
Also NOR models are safer than NAND models (phat).

It would be great if some offers could be posted here to be selected in consensus by the community for the good of the projects...
They belong to all us... I'm only a facilitator.

Yea unfortunately the slim 2k I offered up that has the bad disc drive I do not know the history of. I bought it from some local dude who had flashed cfw on it when I first moved to Maryland about 6 years ago. I has not had much use on it from me, but just from sitting it stopped reading games. Maybe a good clean of the laser? No idea

In that case I agree a slim 25xx is probably the best option, at least that's what I would choose.

We could also have considered getting you a console with a permanent hardware flasher for instance, would that be of any use to you?

I am only exploring ideas Aldo while we wait for donations to build up, as getting an extra 50 bucks for a console with flasher should not be a big problem.

A console with a permanent hardware flasher would be great. I have been limited to do many experiments for fear to a brick.

But it is only a nice-to-have feature. My 25xx survived for 11 years without bricking it. Only 3 or 5 semi-bricks made me very nervous, but they could be solved using recovery menu.

So far we have collected 131.17 USD in 12 donations by 11 donators. Maybe 50 or 70 bucks more could be enough to find an appropriate console and cover the shipping to Florida. I would still have to cover the additional freight costs + taxes to import it from USA to my country.

Half way there then.
Why don't you try to spread this donation campaign into your twitter, webman-mod github, webman-mod setup page in the footer (maybe if it check's for online content, I don't know if your tool does it already)?
And maybe use the wwM thread too, or even a news here or at PSX-Place Discord, just till you get the amount you need. Probably people asking for help in that thread doesn't know what happened to you.
A nice simple text so the users don't feel obligated but just to get them motivated to help.

Cool. ;-)

Yes, let's keep this "call to donations" running for a few more days to ensure we can cover all related costs.

And if we cannot find a US based console for sale with a permanent flasher installed, we could maybe look for somebody also US based who would agree to install one on a console we send him then forward it to you, something along those lines..
I will chat again with Jason & see whether he could help.. if he is available..

Github is not very effective. There is already a link for donations that barely receives about 3 or 4 small donations a year.

An excess of requests everywhere could have the opposite effect. We are almost reaching the goal probably with the next 5 donations.
