i am not sure if it will be released or not. it is not being worked on by esc0rtd3w or bguerville. the old flash writers do not have as many safeguards as bgtoolset. they require HFW also. bgtoolset can work on OFW and could be made to install HEN so HFW would not be needed ever (as long as you have internet for a few minutes).

EDIT:
BTW one good reason to have an online tool is that there will not be old versions for download everywhere that might have a bug. as soon as something is fixed in an online tool, everybody that uses it has the fix. no updating needed.

Online tools evaporating - sooner or later. Offline will stay forever as long as there are people who care about software preservation. There was many great web applications which disappeared and cannot be recovered by any way now, while still I have ancient unique software which still works on Windows or even Linux without changes in code. Just saying. ;p

Of course it is authors decisions and I respect that. Yet it is possible scenario that one day official bgtoolset will evaporate, while stolen copies with potential bugs will be preserved. :(

While offline tools will be eternal, online ones have suffered, just like BG is suffering now.

In this exact same, I have two PS3 here.
One of them is on 4.82 and I'm using PS3 NAND/NOR Flash Writer and a PS3 on 4.88 I'm using BG cloned by a Russian and this one works perfectly!

I have E3 Flasher and I could use it as I always used to, but for the ease, practicality and speed, with offline tools, I can do in minutes what would take hours using E3 Flasher.

On a side note, on Saturday I got my CECHG bricked using the Russian clone bgtoolset. I think it mistaken my 4.88 OFW for 4.89 and patched the wrong binary, or it's just me can't read Russian

It also says that only 4.89 is supported. Through a hardware flasher you can restore your PS3
 
Hey Guys

i just got my first ever CECHA00 today and im super pumped about getting Disk based PAL PS2 games working on it (i live in Australia so the reigion on all my games is off... :/) so i started looking for the CFW installation guide i used b4 only to find out that you guys got hacked :/ that sux i feel really bad for you guys and everyone in the community affected by this :/

something i have noticed while reading up on everything is that it appears the DNS hosting got hacked and the A records have been changed but what about the server that hosted the site? (there was mention of "everything being deleted" but im not sure if this refers to the server or the DNS listing) if the server is still up and running cant we just use the IP address instead of the DNS name? (i mean all a DNS does is convert a DNS name into an IP address and redirect the browser)

anyway it's probably already been thaught of so please ignore me if im wrong but i was just curious if we could get the direct IP of the server so we can continue as normal untill a new DNS host has been arranged...

there will be a new website when it is ready. AFAIK the old site is down completely.

Not trying to support the dangerous websites or anything, but not only it talked about 4.89 being the only supported version there, but it's also required to install the same OFW twice before patching anything. It's needed to get matching hash data for RO1 and ROS2 banks. Otherwise ROS2 will have old hash from the previous ofw. This is why it might fail or brick.

Wouldn't that show as a danger / warning in that case?

using littlebalup's tools, i think yes.

installing the pup twice is no longer required. the danger is due to missing files and unknown changes/additions.
 
Is there anyway we can get an ETA for the next release of the BGtoolset? I find it kindof ridiculous that it's been two months and we cannot even get a second DNS to get people below 4.89 through. I love the tool, but why isn't it possible to have two tools, the one I've always been using for 4.86 consoles, and a (Coming soon 4.89) toolset link?

Then it's more than using a possibly buggy Russian toolset. Even if they used the real bgtoolset if you get a danger and ignore it you shouldn't complain if you end up with a brick.

Well then I wish BG the best of luck with his donations, seeing as I have used that nasty little Slavic mirror site to mod 3 consoles. Too bad he couldn't just release a tool that does have the 4.89 bugs \/(°-°)\/. 2 months disabling every non-russian user from getting CFW on any OFW firmware is a joke and I'm tired of pretending it's not. If BG did have a paywall I'd pay 15 bucks for a dump n' patch.
