XMBPD 0.20 is ready.

Here are some of the features listed:

★ Ability to download over 70 packages from the XMB just by selecting them, with no USB stick required.
★ Packages divided up into 4 categories (plus an upcoming themes category that Im working on)
★ Package list will update automatically or can be refreshed manually using the new function.
★ Removes the annoying Spotify and Singstar links from main XMB (packages still available to download through XMBPD)
★ This application installs to flash so it is still there after a system format/restore, handy for getting your favourite apps back without needing a PC/USB Stick.
★ Installing this will also fix some missing icons from CFW tools on ingame XMB.
★ XMBPD can be updated from within itself via the Tools/Mods/Misc section.
★ Addon available called "CFW Applications" which adds a new folder to your XMB for applications you want to keep separate from your games.
★ Selection of applications available in the Tools/Mods/Misc sections that will install straight into the CFW applications folder.(or you can move your own apps easily by changing the category to CB in the PARAM.SFO and resizing icon slightly)
★ New icon set for all the categories, All the icons are added to the relevant RCO files for fastest response and smallest filesize while keeping quality.
★ This is compatible with Multiman singstar unlike early releases.

Note:
- A PSN account is still required for this application to work, you don't need to be signed into PSN, you just to have an account on your PS3.
- This installer was only made for Rebug 4.78, It will not install on lower FW.
- After the initial install please reboot and allow up to 2 minutes for the categories to fill up as it syncs.

I had to sign in at least once on PSN to be able to download the softwares. Just adding the PSN account on brand new install gave me the 80710A06 error. After that i can download without being signed in.

Thanks, but I think that could be a connection error the PS3 sometimes throws out for lots of different reasons, maybe it was still syncing a category as you were trying to download the package so it timed out. I just now tried doing full restore/format on a ps3 here and putting a PSN account on. Didn't have to sign in once and XMBPD is working.

When you first put a PSN account on there are a few things that sync in the background, there are the TV Channel items, the PS store item pics, and the Whats new pics and info, plus all the XMBPD items, so in this case it may have just needed a little longer to finish syncing.

This "new" XMB mod I'm working on will be a replacement/evolution of XMBPD when its completed. It should be much better all round. This mod will look and behave similar to the original XMBPD, but will be built differently to the original as I wont be using the xil system which was a bit of a PITA to work with.

BIG thanks to @mysis, @bguerville and @aldostools for the work they have done on the pkg handling commands and then for integrating them into webMAN MOD. Without those guys this wouldnt be possible, Due to their work this new downloader mod should be compatible with all CFW capable of running WMM and it will not suffer from some of the problems the first version had, Such as:
  • It will not be FW specific anymore.
  • It will not require any PSN account.
  • It will work on banned consoles
  • Region wont be an issue anymore.
  • It will be much easier for me to add packages and categories and generally maintain.
  • It will be possible to use this to download file types other than packages.
  • The background download feature will be available.


I have the basic structure done, icons, category templates etc, so now I can add/remove categories and packages relatively easily. Also I have the update function working now, Thanks to aldostools for the extra help with the xml renaming code he added to WMM. At the moment this mod is all contained in one XML which makes it easy for me to update and work on, but I might break it down into smaller XMLs in the future.


There are a few things I would like help with from the community if possible:
  • Some of the packages I included in the last version are now obsolete and I wasn't aware, I don't know about every homebrew and don't really have time to research them all and see what is worth including now in late 2016, so I would like suggestions here for what to include/exclude.
  • Then I have the problem of non working No-PSN packages, I cant test them all as for some of them you need accounts and to be in other countries etc, so I would like people to let me know of confirmed working No-PSN packages with links if possible so i can grab the package. Im not adding any unless they are confirmed working.
  • And then there was all the homebrew games I added that turned out to be signed for 3.41/3.55. I don't mind including homebrew games, but their devs will have to make them compatible with newer FWs as Im not catering for 3.55 FW at all. Im also not going to get into locating and resigning packages that don't work and testing them etc myself, as I don't have enough time for that tbh, I can add homebrew games though if there are any confirmed working on newer FW.
  • Also about updates to apps, If there is a news story on here about a new app or an update or I notice a comment about it somewhere then I will add it, but would like tips/links from people when new apps or updates are out on other sites or ones are not mentioned here as I don't have time to follow every dev all the time so I am bound to miss some.
  • I would also welcome suggestions for the layout/names of the categories if anyone has any ideas for changes/additions?

Im considering including other things like an official packages section for singstar and unpatched Spotify, netflix etc, but not sure if there is any need really except that its one less reason to go to the PS store. Other possibilities for the future are separate categories for homebrew games and retro games, a plugin downloader section with sprx files maybe, a CFW section with the latest PUPs in zips (MD5s included).

Nice work and some impressive pieces coming together. Alot of good idea's coming together here :).

We need to update our PS3 Resource section ourselfs. So will try and keep you on the relevant stuff :) .

I have a complete set someplace. I had it online in about 4 places and lost them all, but floating around on a thumbdrive or something i have a complete set.

Here is an installer for this new XMB mod, Ive decided to release this as a replacement for Package Manager/Install Package Files, when you install this it will turn your Package Manager (or install pkg files) into Packager Manager ++, this has only been tested on Rebug 4.80.1 so far but it should work on other FWs too hopefully, as long you are running the latest webMAN MOD 1.43.35 FULL or higher.

Few things to note:
This is only a test build to get some feedback, so don't expect too much. There is a still a crash that can happen sometimes at the start of download or during install. This is a small bug in the pkg handling code of WMM and it is not something I will be able to fix directly. Hopefully with some more feedback from this project we might be able to help track down the cause of it.

The package will auto install after download normally after a slight delay, but occasionally it does not. Also note that if you select background download the package will not auto install and will instead go to "Downloaded Packages" (see pic) when its completed, from there you can install or delete it.

Also there are no packages added to the No-PSN section yet, its just got some place holders in it for now.

This is actually built upon Package Manager Plus from XMBM+ but Ive released it here as a stand alone XMB item that can install on any CFW. Anyway thanks to Team Rebug and Team XMBM for the Package Managers this is based on.

Thanks @DeViL303 for this test release, cannot wait to try it...

I remember the discussions when you started working on XMBPD... We have come a long way since then & nearly everything we hoped for is becoming a reality with this new release.
And I have a gut feeling that we will see further improvements in the near future too! [emoji6]
 
If anyone wants to test the built in update feature, it is working and there is an update available. Its only a small update for test purposes, it just adds Rebug Toolbox 02.02.10 to the Tools/Mods/Misc section and adds a reminder that users must reboot after updating the lists.

BTW: This is the first example of a PS3 xml being updated from within itself using the new downloading/renaming code of WMM. The whole Package Manager can be updated now (not just the lists) and really I would never need to release another pkg file for this in theory (I probably will though), unless I want to add icons but I already have a few spare included in the v0.01 pkg.

I could only download themes, all other content the error 400 Bad Request, using 1.43.33, webman CFW REBUG COBRAA CEX 4.80, this is my feedback. Update Package Lists too gives error 400 Bad Request

the 1.43.35 version is giving me bugs, I'll leave my feedback, I'll explain what happens in Bueno 1.43.35 tab

Thanks for the feedback. Make sure you are on the latest WMM.

There are a few 1.43.35 wMM pkgs around, I just tried with this one (latest @ 4309KB) installed and it works for me. Make sure to install the FULL version, hold the L1 button until you are back on the XMB.
 
So far no one has actually said this has worked for them except me, and 2 people have said it doesn't work at all, an error when trying to download, so its not looking good. 1 out of 3 success rate.

When I get a chance I will get this on my PS3, problem being I don't have good internet yet (still borrowing from neighbor). Possibly tonight /tomorrow night I'll give it a test, within the next few days I'll see what I can do about getting updates on NoPSN apps.

For me it's working:

- I downloaded the pkg and it installed correctly. I ran it and the installation was smooth (saying yes to everything), after that it rebooted and Rebug Package Manager was replaced by "Package Manager++".

As Rebug Package Manager is multi-language, people with XMB in a language other than English will notice that the option is in English.

- I had the previous beta installed and it was shown inside XMBM+. I'm not sure if this version does it too, but the previous beta replaced my XMBM+ menu removing the PKG Manager option inside XMBM+.

- Unlike the previous beta that had spining icons, this build shows the icons properly.

- The update seems to be working properly too.

- The themes are working too. However, unlike the other download options, the page must be closed manually after download.
Also the number of themes is insane. An option could be to split the list in categories (e.g. dynamic, cars, games, etc.)

- Some categories have empty placeholders. It would be good to have them hidden.

If you have an old version of webMAN MOD, I suggest to put the version currently available on github.
