There has been a lot of commotion going on in the Vita scene regarding playing PSP games at native resolution on your PS Vita and PS TVs. We first saw the release of TheFloW's GePatch, which essentially is a plugin that would allow for some PSP games to utilize the Vita's hardware to run at a much better resolution. Since the initial release, we have already seen 11 updates in less than half a month; with each new release adding more support and bringing us closer to the dream of playing all of our PSP games at full native resolution. Along with the updates of GePatch, TheFloW also released an updated version of the custom PSP firmware Adrenaline for end-user consumption, bringing even more compatibility to his incredible plugin. After creating last month's PS Vita and PS TV Mid-Month Release Roundup, I noticed another developer had been hard at work releasing several PS Vita and PS TV projects. I figured I should spotlight all the tremendous applications and plugins GrapheneCt had been producing last month, both for end-users and developers. Let's take a look at his releases, starting with the beginning of August. The HonRipper v1.0 plugin was released August 1st, and it allows users to extract data from .MNH (Marlin-Hon format) books through the PS Vita Sony Reader application; and on the same day, libShellAudio v1.1 was released for developers, which is a PS Vita library that can be used in system and music applications to play audio files using SceShell resources. On August 2nd, we saw two releases: MARISA Highlow PS Vita v2.1, a port of a homebrew highlow card game; and BGFTP v3.1, an application that allows for Background FTP transfer to and from your PS Vita and PS TV. Seven days later on August 9th, we saw two releases for developers: libvitaSAS v1.01, a SceSas and libaudiodec library wrapper that supports system mode applications; and libvita2d_sys v1.22, a 2D library for the PS Vita that

@HWNJ has released FunTuna at PSX-Place, which is a collection of existing PS2 homebrew that has been edited and packed for easy newbie consumption. This project comes with custom versions of Fortuna, Free McBoot, uLaunchELF and the Free McBoot Configurator as well. FunTuna only works on Slim PS2 models, even if they comes with BIOS 2.30 or above (SCPH-900XX), no matter the region; and even works on emulators (PCSX2) and consoles with mod-chips installed. With the latest advancements in hacking the PS2 (FreeDVDBoot), now is a great time for users new to the scene to get involved; and HWNJ's release has just made everything a whole lot easier for first time users. Also, it is nice to know that once you have installed FunTuna on your PS2, you can easily make a copy from once Memory Card to another, allowing you to share the experience with your friends. You can download your copy today from the link located at the bottom of this article.

PS3 webMAN Classics Maker v2.0 - GUI Release

PSX-Place's own @jacobsson has put together a wonderful project for all the PS3 users in the scene called webMAN Classics Maker v2.0. This project started out as a tutorial to help users create self-booting XMB webMAN Classics, and has evolved into a GUI program that will do most of the work for you. With this tool, you will be able to create self-booting versions of all of you favorite PSP, PS1, PS2 and PS3 games, which will be able to play from either your HDD or USB (USB not yet tested). There are many reasons for wanting to create your own XMB webMAN Classics, including: better PS2 compatibility, starting your ISOs directly from the XMB, organizing your ISOs on the XMB, and USB device compatibility (lightguns, microphones, etc., etc.). Besides a copy webMAN Classics Maker v2.0 for Windows or Linux, you will also need to latest version of @aldostools webMAN Mod (currently at version 1.47.30). If you need any assistance with this program, click the link at the bottom of this article to be taken directly to @jacobsson's release thread, where you will be able to discuss this release and much more.
NOTICE [UPDATE 1] Libretro / RetroArch Targeted in Hacker Attack

In sad news for the hombrew and emulators communities across multiple scenes and platforms, I regret to inform our readers that several days ago Libretro/RetroArch was the victim of a targeted hacker attack. While it seems the end-users are safe from the damage (no cores or installations should be considered dangerous), the same cannot be currently said about the work of the development team behind the great all-on-one emulator we have come to know and love. A sizeable amount of Libretro/RetroArch repositories have been wiped clean, and the development team is working hard to see if Github will be able to help them restore the lost data. The nightly and stable buildbot services have also been crippled, and end-users are not longer able to update or downloads cores, assets, overlays and shaders. The netplay lobby service is also currently not working.
