Seems RetroArch Vita will have a Nintendo 64 (n64) emulator soon and reports suggest it's running Super Mario 64 at full speed with sound already surpassing the PSP emulator in its first incarnation. There are even talks of the Dolphin EMU core right around the corner. Move over PS3 seems the PSTV is kicking your butt. N64 emulation has long been a dream for the PS3 but with the Cell architecture porting is not an easy task without significant re-writes to an emulation geared specially for the system (ps3). However the Vita & PlayStation TV things are stacking up differently, while still a challenge it's appearing its a much more reasonable task to achieve as we witness this unfolding.

Well seems developer TheFl0w is back with a new update to his popular application VitaShell with v1.50 and now v1.51 was pushed the next day to fix issues that came around to deliver something Sony blocked from us USB access to our memory cards. No longer are we stuck using the DRM ridden Content Manager Assistant or as we know it (Q)CMA. This allows much faster file transfer over the prior option of FTP access, which BTW is still possible as we can toggle between USB and FTP. This is needed as it seems Vita TV/PSTV users out in the cold as this is only for the Vita HENkaku user base. If you try you will be greeted with this lovely screen.

So we all know we can use the Vita as a PS4 remote but developer xerpi is aiming to turn the tables allowing one to use the DS4 as a remote for the Vita thanks to the taiHEN CFW framework. But that isn't all he has also made a plugin to use our Wiimotes on the Vita even adding "Classic Controller" and third party pad support as of late. This may come in handy for those using developer xyzz of Team Molecule's Moonlight or even using rinCHEAT by developer Rinnegatamante to stream your Vita screen to your PC for a pseudo PSTV of sorts. The possibilities are endless. Updates seem to be coming out daily if not hourly at some times for these two great plugins. So lets take a look at what we have so far with ds4vita first.

Well seems developer frangarcj developer that has really gotten RetroARCH where it is today with the dynarec working & the video filters for Adrenaline has a new plugin for our Vita's or PSTV but this time it was built around the taiHEN framework. Move over Better Amphetamin as here comes a new challenger to take its place as the best way to fully maximize your systems full potential.

So seems yifanlu has been up to helping out the Vita scene yet again. This time making it easy for anyone to update to 3.60 from any firmware below 3.60 to enable HENkaku/taiHENkaku. All one has to do is change the DNS server on your Vita/PSTV then use the official update method via the settings in the "Live Area". Best of all it will stop any accidental updating past 3.60 as it is the only firmware that will show up when you try to access the update setting. And best of all you can still use your browser and system as usual so you don't have to change the DNS settings to view YouTube surf the web or enable the hacks, just said it once and forget about it. Here I will leave what the dev had to say to explain it some more.

The PS Vita / PlayStation TV [ aka Vita TV] areceived a new firmware update as Sony drops Firmware version 3.63. Nothing major seem to be of concern here and basically same situation for HENkaku user's with v3.61 firmware as 3.60 is latest for HENkaku and it appears PSN access is still possible.. This like the recent Sony released PS3 firmware v4.81 which you can read more about that here has improved stability garbage they put on all those bandwidth waster they claim are firmware updates..

Well I don't know how true this is but even @Joonie from the Rebug Team Tweeted seems to think this is legit. The "hackers" Chaitin Tech seem to be funded commercially. The event is legit and has been known to showcase hacks before. So this holds some water as even infamous PS3 hacker geohot (not affiliated with the group) who we all recall helped bringing Linux back to the PS3 was at the event on stage while the team demonstrated the hack!! (See included pic). They haven't stated when or if they will release anything at this point but we will have to wait and see I guess.

Well well seems TheFlow has been really busy lately. Showcasing his latest contribution to the Vita scene. This time is a full fledged eCFW for the PSP emu. ARK which was in talks about being ported was for 6.60 PSP firmware and would have needed to have been adapted for 6.61 but Mr. Coldbird simply didn't have the time to port this over. So today TheFlow announced his new 6.61 based eCFW which looks to be much like the fan favorite TNV eCFW using the infamous XMB interface.

Yep you heard me right World of Final Fantasy is a 3.61 game and can run on HENkaku. Seems a user got WoFF a day early. While the game has the 3.61 update you can still install and run the game with a 3.60 enabled HENkaku Vita. It will ask if you want to install 3.61 update. Just decline with O button to proceed and run the game. But no updates or DLC that comes with the game. Just like Corpse Party that needed 3.55 that I could run from cart on 3.36 this same flaw exist for this new game. PSN still will require 3.61 to install so if this game is a must play buy the cart or if you must have the DLC buy the PS4 version. Or of course buy a 3.61 Vita. Game does not work with v1 v2 or combined v1 & v2 whitelist on PSTV but hopefully the new bypass that was recently found will allow this to work on PSTV.

A new tool has been released VitaCID 1.0. Wow what can I say? The Vita scene went from nothing to amazing in the short time span of less then a month. This time the release is from long time Vita scene member Major Tom who brought us the amazing EML hacks with the help of his partner in crime mr gas. This tools allows one to obtain your Vitas IDPS without the need of TNV which was the only way to get this prior to this tool.
