Okay, maybe you will think now why such a site like PSX-Place.com takes care about such a topic, as described in the headline and why this topic will include only 10% of Information about the PS4 and 90% about the Xbox One - on a site like this all about hacking and exploiting PlayStation Consoles only. But I would like to introduce you three interesting ways from the three major companies (namely Sony, Nintendo & Microsoft) how they try to achieve "Making Video Games playable for everyone" - and with "everyone" I mean not only you as a reader, but also for people with disabilites - where those people have always to fight with several difficulties not only in their everyday life. but also when they like to play Video Games like you do. And maybe this topic won't have such an impact with your interest, but I think they deserve it to be mentioned, since those are the "True Heroes" - not those who have the best skills or who are the fastest in a Video Game.

Remember when we talked about that the PS4 is still in search of it's full potential and that the Developers are still hard-working with Exploits and other cool stuff for newer System Firmwares - like @SpecterDev does with System Firmware 5.05 - then you shouldn't be suprised that other great Developers like @Mathieulh are also using their research for exploiting even newer System Firmwares - as he showed it with his little "sneak-peek" for System Firmware 5.53. This would mean that the lastest System Firmware from Sony would be exploitable and Homebrew would be possible - by the current state of reading. --- UPDATE: @mathieulh gains access to a Kernel Exploit on System Firmware 5.55 as well --- Check Down Below for further information!

With the latest achievements regarding Kernel Exploits and other useful things for both System Firmware 5.05 and System Firmware 5.53 together with the older exploits like for System Firmware 4.55 or even for System Firmware 1.76 - you have probably already recognized that compared to the PS3 - a lot of have changed for the PS4 when you wanted to play your backups or to install some Homebrew. Instead of installing a Custom Made Firmware (CFW) from a USB-Device, you will use a bug in the Original System Software (OFW) itself to allow such mentioned things. This method isn't that bad but further investigations from the System itself is very limited compared to a CFW like for the PS3, where you had full access and control about your console by doing things whatever you wanted to do. But this could now change for the PS4 with the interesting Project behind #TeamOrbis called "The Mira Project".

The PS4 can't take a rest when speaking about Kernel Exploits and other Researches from the great Developers out there. So there is no suprise that there is still a research for newer System Firmwares - so as Developer @SpecterDev does with System Firmware 5.05. Those Exploits are still in development since it was previewed by himself for the next few weeks but what this makes so interesting is, that he doesn't preview a Kernel Exploit only, but also other useful Tools including some for Homebrew Development. This is a good step in the right direction since the PS4 is still lacking behind other previous Consoles released by Sony and other actual Consoles as well, when speaking about Homebrew.

When you play your beloved Video Games on your PC, you already know about all the procedures during the Installation by entering a Key, which allows you to install and/or to play the Games, you recently bought. And when this is a "everyday's business" by a PC Gamer and nothing new, Game Titles released on a home console never applied such a system, which meant that if you bought a Game, you was able to do whatever you wanted to do. But this could change in future, according to a new Patent filled by Sony, which would not based - as they call it: "BLOCKCHAIN-BASED DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT" - on a traditional system, as above mentioned. There are many speculations how this system could work and it's still unknown if this would mean a better protection against Piracy or having full control about your purchases.

Before you think there are only new updates and releases for the PS3 and/or PS4, keep in mind that the PSVita has still a lot of potential for being a handy and portable "Homebrew machine", not only for making your life easier with your backups, but also for other useful functions including to play your PSP & PS1 Classics on-the-go. And while Sony recently released a new and boring System Software Update (Version 3.68 is the recent one, if you are really interested), Developer @TheFlow still keeps his software updated, not only by fixing several bugs, but also by including new and useful functions allowing you to have the best experience with your PSP and PS1 Games. And since he keeps this software updated twice in only two days (with Version 6.2 and - as the title already suggests - Version 6.3), this shows even more that there is still a lot of potential for this handheld device.

While there is already some work-in-progress for a PS4 Emulator, there is still a lot of to accomplish when speaking about emulating PlayStation 3 Game Titles on your Personal Computer. But even with it's complicated CPU architecture, the Team behind RPCS3 keeps this challenge updated by showcasing their newest achievements about PS3 Emulation with more and more Game Titles compatible via their Emulator. And with their newest Progress Report for March 2018, it is still impressive to see that they can get more and more Game Titles playable by each month.

Maybe you are one of those older people who still can remember that - instead of Reverse Engineering with some Software inside each Operating System to install a Custom Firmware (CFW) - you had to take apart half of the console by soldering a "tiny little piece of additional hardware" only to get Homebrews and Backups running on your older PlayStation consoles. Not only this was way more harder to accomplish compared to "todays standards" by installing a CFW or using a Webkit exploit to get full control of your PlayStation consoles, it was mainly created for older PlayStation Hardware with mostly one goal only - which was sad enough - Piracy. But Today, Developer @_AlAzif announced "his own intepretation about a modchip for the PS4", which will help you for using the latest webkit exploits without dismantling the whole console and without any need to host some exploit files on your home server or exploiting them via the Internet.

Developer @SpecterDev published a write-up on his GitHub repo about the latest PS4 Kernel Exploit on System Firmware 4.55. But as you may already recognized from the Title of this News, he explains at his write-up that this mentioned Kernel Exploit is not only convenient for the PS4 itself - it could be also useful for other console platforms using FreeBSD in general, which sounds very interesting. This great write-up also shows how the PS4's System Firmware is running on FreeBSD in general and how the Developers behind the PS4 (didn't) tried to made this System secured from exploiting it.

When a new console generation get's released, there is always the question sooner or later: "Can I emulate it on my PC?" While one side tries to emulate older Classic Titles on newer consoles - like running PS2 Game Titles on the PS4 - then there are also other people who tries to run newer Game Titles on the PC. And since we speak already about the PS4, maybe we should have a look what those other people are trying to achieve about PS4 Emulation on PC. Well-known developer AlexAltea is one of those other people mentioned who tries exactly right that with his - as he calls it - "Virtualization-based PlayStation 4 Emulator", named Orbital.
