Since you liked our past Interviews so far where we talk with Developers across all PlayStation consoles - and especially one of our latest Interview where we talked with a Developer who tinkers with various consoles simultaneously - we thought about to do this again. Today's Guest is also well-known for releasing various Homebrew Applications mainly for the PlayStation Vita, but also for the PlayStation 4. In fact in this interview, you will learn not only what he released so far for both consoles, but also what it means to develop for the PS Vita as for the PS4 in terms of "connectivity" for both consoles. But what does this mean exactly? Maybe you can remember back when the PS4 got presented back at E3 2013, Sony itself tried to make it more tasty for you not only to play with their newest Home Console, but also with the previous released PS Vita as well, especially when using the official "Remote Play" Feature. While this didn't worked quite well for Sony to be honest - although even the newest PS4 Games today still supports "Remote Play" - this Developer took a similar approach to understand the "connectivity" between both consoles but in terms of hacking them and to create useful Homebrew for it. And his results are impressive as well. So without further ado, our Guest Today is well-known multiconsole Developer @CelesteBlue. :)

Our Interview Series conducted various Interviews with Developers, who worked either mainly for the PlayStation 3 or for the PlayStation 4 (and one time for the PlayStation Vita). But sometimes, there are well-known Developers who say to themselves that working on one console isn't enough for me. In fact the older readers will probably remember back when the magical 3.55 Firmware got hacked for the PS3 how many useful stuff we saw from the PSP Development for instance, which led into daily new releases and achievements for both consoles. As you can see, working on several consoles within the same "family" can be an advantage. So when we thought about new candidates for this series of interviews, we quickly recognized that if you want to interview a "multi-console" Developer, then there is someone, where his name will come immediately in every mind. In fact our next candidate worked with so many both home and portable consoles in the past and still in present days, we would probaly need a complete new sub-section inside the forum to list all of his releases and achievements he did for the community. :) And you can't imagine how difficult it was for us "questioners" how to begin this interview with such a great person or how to find the right words for him. :P But somehow we think we managed it quite good and this time we have even a special question for our female readers out there. ^^ This man needs no more introduction. Here is our guest today, Developer @mathieulh!
PS VITA / PS TV [UPDATE: Version 1.13] Autoplugin 2 released by @TheheroGAC & ONElua Team!

Unlike the PlayStation 4 with it's slow Homebrew Content, the PlayStation Vita always saw a strong Content of Homebrew and other useful Plugins, which makes your life easier with a hacked PS Vita. In fact, we still see today new plugins released for this Handheld Console, no matter if you want to Overclock your PS Vita to make your favourite Games even better performing or if you just need some handy tools like an always running FTP Server, where you can transfer your favourite Games and other Homebrew Releases on-the-fly. But installing them wasn't always a easy task and there was even a risk when adding them manually, which could harm your complete System when pressing a wrong button. In short, it was always elaborate to install all those wonderful Plugins bit by bit. But luckily we had Autoplugin for this in the past and today, well-known Developer @thehero_ together with the ONElua Team are releasing Version 2, where not only you can now see which Plugins you have already installed on your PS Vita, but also that you can now directly download all translations inside of Autoplugin without any need to quit the App as it was necessary before. Together with more new Features you can see down below and with a new Design, Autoplugin 2 will make your life even more easier now for both you and your PS Vita!
PS2 [UPDATE-3] Meet "FreeDVDBoot" by @CTurtE - (PARTIAL) First PS2 FAT (PHAT) Model supported!

We are nearly at the half of this year over but 2020 was an weird year so far, don't you agree? First we lost one of our greatest athletes in Basketball history who was a great father and human as well - shortly after that we are still battling with the worldwide Corona virus outbreak - "and now you tell me that there are still people releasing brand new Exploits for the PS2 released in 2020 ?!?!?!" :) Yeah, you read it correctly. Today well-known Developer @CTurt showcases his newest achievements in "PS2 Hacking". While his previous method saw some critics due to its limitation using the official Sony PS2 YaBasic Interpreter, which was only bundled in very first PS2 Demo Discs released for the PAL region only, Developer @CTurt was so kind to find an even better entry point in launching Homebrew on an unmodified PS2. And guess what, he found a way to achieve exactly that by fully exploiting the DVD Video Player Functionality from a PS2 Console. And it comes even better. Not only you can enjoy all of the old but still good Homebrews and Emulators released back in the old days, this exploit also supports running your legally obtained Backups as well! And all that WITHOUT any need of an modified Memory Card, without any use any old and dirty Swap Magic Trick or to open your PS2 and install an Modchip like many did in the old days? Doesn't sound that cool or what do you think right now when reading this? I kinda mean it when I said that 2020 is a weird year so far. :P
PS4 PS1 Emulation gets native support on PS4! Thanks to the findings by @Vitt0x_Lar_YT

Emulation on todays Sony Home Consoles wasn't always a easy task compared with the older days such for the PS3 for instance. In fact, it seems that Sony isn't interested anymore nowadays to make the PS4 a "fully" Backwards Compatible Console. PlayStation 3 Game Titles can be only "emulated" via their PlayStation Now-Service - where you already now those Games doesn't get emulated at all - and while the PS3 had many "PS2 Classics" available at their PSN Store, the PS4 share a few of them as well, but sadly only about >50 Game Titles and the last one added was also already over two years ago. :( But luckily we have the great Homebrew Community doing the job what Sony failed to do. :) We saw already in the past that speaking of "PS2 Emulation", the PS4 can handle them pretty well unlike Sony claims (over >500 Game Titles are fully "playable" right now) and we even saw some "more unsual" methods of emulating PS3 Games with the PS4 by running the famous RPCS3 on a Linux Distribution with a PS4. But "1" Home Console was actually missing. Thanks to the newest Exploits and Jailbreaks for the PS4 on System Firmware 6.72, Developer @Vitt0xLar_YT was able to find a native PS1 Emulator within the PS4 Remaster "MediEvil" and he was successfully able to dump all the necessary Files the Community and you need to - similar to PS2 Emulation - create your own PS1 Fake PKGs (FPKG) with your own old PS1 Game Titles. So you can enjoy your old and nostalgic classics again even on your PS4 now! And yes, even the original Boot Screen is included. Nostalgiaaaaaa :P
PS4 Developer @TheoryWrong talks about "OrbisSWU" - An interesting approach for Downgrading your PS4 ???

Remember back in the old days when instead of installing an Kernel/Web-Exploit like nowadays, you asked "how I can install an Custom Firmware (CFW)" or something like "how I can Downgrade my Console"? Of course, todays attempts aren't that bad since you get a similar functionality in terms of running Homebrew for instance, but not quite for 100% compared to the old days. Especially not when we talk about the possibilities of modifying a PlayStation 3 compared to the PlayStation 4 today. In fact, there was a time where everyone wanted to "Downgrade" his/her PS3 from an higher System Firmware (OFW) to bring the functionality of Homebrew back to their PS3. Or can you remember when your Blu-ray Drive wasn't working anymore due to its age or because of an failed Downgrade process so everytime when you wanted to install a newer, higher CFW, it failed with displaying an error message and you had to install those "noBD" CFWs? While the latter one was already achieved for older Firmwares below <4.75 in the past, it will be still interesting to achieve both a Downgrading possibility and a "noBD" support for higher Firmwares on a PS4 as well. The good thing is, well-known Developer @TheoryWrong asked the same question to himself. And it gets even better; he is ready to show his progress so far So lets have a look at it. :)

In our Interview Series, we always try that you can profit with each of our candidates by mainly three things. First, you gain an insight behind each Developer and his/her work he/she is doing for the community. Second, we summarize the most important Releases from each Developer, so you can get a good overview of which Tools and Homebrew you need to make a specific task easier by your own (like for "jailbreaking" your PS3 for instance). And as a third goal, we always try to make those interviews so useful, that you can draw some lessons from it when you want to study further behind some Hacks, Exploits, and other Homebrew or when you want to develop your own Hacks and Homebrew Applications from ground-up. This is why you already probably recognized from our previous coverages, while the "final questions" were mostly such of them. But with our guest today, we can promise that you will learn more than ever before, even already from the very first question. :) And the coolest thing is, you don't even need a hacked console to make his Homebrew runnable since it even runs on Original Firmware for both the PS3 and the PS4. And didn't you always dreamed about creating a Homebrew Game on your own as a small kid? If so, then you should read further because without further ado, our Guest Today is BD-J Developer mr_lou - the creator of "Blu-Play"!

Our Interview Series is a full success. Not only can you get an in-depth look behind all the great projects each of those developer's have worked on in the past and their plans into the future, but also that you can get a useful overview with all important Homebrew Releases made by the developer's which will help you if you want to get the "Full Experience" from your hacked Console's and devices. For instance, we learned in our last Interview with developer @aldostools that he created the "Tools Collection" for the PS3, which contains OVER 50+ TOOLS! But while we had interviewed candidates before, who developed their projects after a Hack/Exploit was released, we thought about introducing you to another side of development, namely those, who make it possible for those previously mentioned developers to create their Homebrew running on your hacked devices. And since this mentioned "Tools Collection" contains mainly Tools for your hacked PS3, it would be only fair to give you an in-depth look with one of the developers of the PS3Xploit-Team, who helped reanimating you and your PS3 with all those great projects. This developer work includes participation in projects like the Flash Writer's that provide the ability for CFW Installation, then "PS3HEN" which brought Homebrew Support for "nonCFW Models" and also the variety of tools and dumpers released from the PS3Xploit-Team. So, without further waiting, our Guest Today is no other than Developer and long-time Community Member - @esc0rtd3w!

With the very first introduction of our new Series of Developer Interviews - as known by "The Power Supply" - you were already allowed to dabble a little bit with Volume 01 of the series, where you got a deep look into the work from well-known Developer @deank he did for this scene. While he worked mainly for the PS3 Community, we thought it would be only fair to bring you a PS4 Developer with Volume 02 of this Interview Series today. This Developer maybe don't have the same long reputation as deank have since he began to tinker with the PS4 as his very first Sony Console. But this doesn't mean that he isn't worth to ask some questions. :) We covered his Achievements already in the past here in this Forum, especially when we provided you our yearly Overview about the CCC Events held in Germany. In fact, you should be familiar with him and his Lecture he held back at 35C3. So please give an warm welcome to m0rph3us1987, while in his Interview, we will talk about his Lecture he held, we will learn how he sees the current situation in "PS4 Development and Hacking" and we will get an deep insight how he began to learn writing some code in his young age. So allow us to introduce him further.

PS News Meet "Blu-Play" - A Development Platform for creating Homebrew Games running on OFW!

There are a lot of Homebrew Apps as well as self-made Homebrew Games for various Consoles outside. But when creating Homebrew, there is always the question how to release it, so most Users can take profit of it. Sure you already saw how you was able to run your favourite Homebrew on a Console with a Custom Firmware installed or it was usable by running a Kernel Exploit before that. This meant that you were always forced to use a specific System Firmware which won't allow you to use them on the newest Original Firmware (OFW) these days. But did you know that there is actually a possibility to enjoy Homebrew Games while being on the latest System Firmware for having the "Best of Both Worlds"? The "Magic Trick" is using BD-J - or Blu-ray Disc Java in long terms - as a Platform Language, which is already in use when you play a common Movie bought as a pressed Blu-ray Disc (especially for many Menu Titles of each Movie). And since both the PS3 and PS4 also supports Blu-Ray Movie Disc Playback, you can be assured that this Feature won't be patch in the next few years! :) With all this in mind, Developer mr_lou (crediting his Games as LuBlu Entertainment) thought about not only to create his own Homebrew Games using BD-J (he is specialized in creating older Console Generation Games kinda as a "Homebrew Remake"), but also welcome you by offering you a whole Platform so you can "Getting Started" by creating you own Homebrew Game as well! How cool is that?
