PlayStation 3 CFW developer Alexander has released the latest version of his FERROX CFW, following the release of PLAYERKP420's 4.78 CFW. This CFW from Alexander while a Standard CEX also (like platerkp420's) does contain some additional features and patches for PS3 Custom Firmware users. In this edition of FERROX the developer has Disabled Cinavia, Removed Epilepsy Warning on the console boot, A new feature in FERROX firmware is an Integrated Package Manager to replace the standard Install Package Files. [strike]Now unlike playerkp420's CFW this does not handle MAMBA in the current form and according to test done in the developer's notes MAMBA v2.1.5 "Identified a Brick. UPDATE: Alexander has mentioned that MAMBA is working fine and does not cause any bricks, the message was from a test build and accidenettly applied to the news source location.

I asked because i have added the psp support to mamba but seems not work on your cfw and on that of playerkp420.

On the other cfw (rebug, habib, ps3ita..) i don't have problems..

I've saw the missing drm patch but that is not the problem, i always implemented it in the mamba..

Maybe something wrong with tarballs permission?

No, I have not entered the new drm protection. I will definitely in 1.1. I wanted to insert it, but I never had time.
This week released the updated version of Ferrox.

you need to use a hardware flasher and downgrade/crossgrade your ps3

 

Oooops, i guess u can say ` i told u so`, U guessed it i managed to brick it!
I got 3 dumps but they all said ros0 and ros1 hash was bad i think, so i read to ignore it so i click the spanner on left and unchecked the hash check then patched the file but when i tried to write it back i got errors which pointed at the sd card not seated correct or bad filename, the filename was bkpps3.bin which i tried to write to the nand after patching..The Tut i watched was different to the way my e3 flasher worked , it seemd to get 3 dumps in a row without stoppping ( unlike in the tut ). Anyway it would not write back and now i get black screen on ps3 and cant turn off with ps3 power button....How do i recover from this (if its posssibe), Please help before i take a hammer to my ps3 and have a minute of fun at least....

Hi folks i need help desperately!
I tried to downgrade my PS3 with new E3 NOR Flasher and failed, i should have got more info before proceeding but i was impatient and have bricked it i think.

Anyway heres as much info as i can think of so hopefully someone can help me!!!!

Start....
PS3 is a Slim CECH 2003b 250gb (upgraded to 1tb hdd)
HDD formatted FAT32 and OFW 4.78 installed

I used E3 NOR Flasher (all switches down except 3rd) and got my 3 dumps?
bkpps30.bin, bkpps31.bin, bkpps32.bin, e3flasher text log file

checked them all with NorInspector 0.0.1 - 2013(c)Mysis and everything seemed ok, all Green status OK.

I used Ps3 Dump Checker 1.0.487.0 and all came back with 2 errors,
14:56:04 : Hash check for 009.02 ROS0 Hash Started... Result: FAILED!
14:56:04 : Hash check for 009.05 ROS1 Hash Started... Result: FAILED!
So after seeking more info i went online and read in a forum that it would be ok to ignore these 2 errors and go ahead and patch it. So i clicked the little spanner top left and unticked `Enable Hash Checks`, so now i get OK to patch, so now i got bkpps30_patched.bin
I renamed as bkpps30.bin and placed in root of SD card, so now sd card only contains bkpps30.bin ,i flick all E3 switches to down position and press start on E3 flasher, it comes back with errors pointing at SD card not seated correctly or filename error, tried SD card then tried rename file to bkpps3.bin pressed start on E3 and NOTHING! no errors nothing i was hoping to see the blue lights fill up slowly but nothing i waited ages. log file shows `start logging...One Key downgrade mode. fail to open 0:e3_downgrade.bin.`
So now Ps3 is bricked i think?? it turns on but i get black screen, no error message just black screen. If hold power button for long time it will turn
off. It wont let me into the factory restore. I still have 2 dumps bkpps31.bin and bkpps32.bin which are untouched.
What did i do wrong and what are my options now, is it recoverable? PLEASE HELP!!

 

Rename your dump to bkpps3.bin

Also iirc all swiches should be down for flashing.

Is your console QA flagged? If yes you can downgrade in pretty much the same manner as you upgrade.
If the system won't let let you downgrade then QA might be toggled off. Use a QA utility to find out.

Did you hardware flash it yourself?
If you didn't dehash it just after the jailbreak as per instructions in psdevwiki and you have not done it since,.... . It's likely to be the problem.
Unless someone did the downgrading for you in which case you would need to ask that person...

There are several tools to check QA.
Have a look at Habib's in Brewology store. It's in the same place as the Habib Cobra toggler but you will see there is a QA standalone pkg. See if that works if the old package doesn't.
Maybe toggle QA in Rebug Toolbox could work too...
I remember having problems getting the combo
L1+L2+L3+R1+R2+dpad_down on network settings
to work once in the past for some reasons but it did eventually....

You need QA flagged for the flexibility...Read psdevwiki dehashing section.

Have you tried using a PUP Downgrader to go back to 3.55 then up to 4.76. You can try Rogero's or Rebug's...

Have you tried Habib QA toggler (section Habib Toolbox 1.02.02 at store.brewology.com) or Rebug Toolbox 02.02.09 from hxxp://rebug.me ?
Try those 2 first.

If you want to try using a downgrader, get this Rebug 999 Downgrader, This zip file contains a link to get the Downgrader. PUP file.
Download the PUP file, rename it exactly as PS3UPDAT.PUP & copy it to a fat32 key or hdd iso you have this path on the key X:\PS3\UPDATE\PS3UPDAT.PUP (replacing X with your own drive letter of course ). Make sure you type folder & file names in Upper CASES just as I did!
Go to XMB Settings & try to do a system update via Storage media. It will get you back to 3.55.
Be careful, never leave a game in the bluray drive when you use System Update otherwise you will end up with OFW installed from the game disc instead & you will need to use the flasher all over again. It's easy to forget
