PS3 CECHC04 - Bluray drive missing. Possible to swap in another one?

I bought a broken ps3 with YLOD model CECHC04 on ebay. the bluray drive is missing completly, it is on OFW. is there any way to place in a nother Bluray drive, I got a spare one left, and remarry it? or is there no way to get a CFW running without BL drive to remarry without the BluRay drives OG daughterboard?
 
For the purpose of updating FW the drive does not need to be married to the console. So you can connect ANY compatible drive and update to exploitable FW, then jailbreak it and install CFW, then remarry the drive.

You only need a married drive for booting any apps, and obviously for reading/playing from discs.

Also, If you are extra lucky it will be on an OFW that is already exploitable.

1.00 to 3.55 can can install CFW without any special hacks
4.80 to 4.87 can be exploited with via ** ** www.ps3xploit.net > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com) > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com to install CFW

Thx for your great answer. I managed to fix the YLOD with replacing a RSX NEC Tokin with tantalum ones. so the ps3 is running again now. I had 4.25 OFW installed. I installed my spare BD drive I had around. so I managed to install 4.84 HFW and than my loved 4.84 rebug REX. now it comes to the marriage ^^ how can I dump my eid root key do marrie her? no apps will start that can do this like rebug toolbox.
 
This tutorial sadly doesn'T work for me, alway fails :/

method one always fails, always checking with inserting game but does not show up on XMB. method 2 does not work too, all eid root key dumper i find on brewlogy does not dump anything

The drive I want to remarry is always connected.
