PS3 Custom config files for kozarovv and mrjaredbeta's ps2_gxemu

Hello, a bit of a noob question here,

Regarding where CUSTOM config files for ps2_gxemu are suposed to go,
I've looked through the release threads for this emulator and the 'Compatibility List – PS2 on PS3' thread, but I couldn't find anyone mentioning this issue. Apologies if it has already been answered and I missed it.

I have installed the modded gxemu by kozarovv and mrjaredbeta, and downloaded one of the converted custom GX configs that have been tested and uploaded in this repo:
https://github.com/kamilb880/gxemu_custom_configs

The config file is suposed to be placed under dev_hdd0/vm/gx/ according to instructions in the emulator release thread, but as you can see, the /gx/ folder is nowhere to be seen in my case:

Tried creating the folder /gx/ manually and dropping the custom config file SLUS_207.21 in, but naturally it didn't work, the game did not recognize and use the config file.

I also made sure that the emulator mod has been installed and works properly (temps and FPS are displayed on net_emu), running on CFW 4.87 CEX Cobra 8.2, and the PKG installer did a single "bleep" sound which indicates that installation was completed successfully (mentioned in the github link posted above).

What could I be missing or doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Hi!

Did you manage to resolve this issue by now?

If not:
The location of custom seems to be fine.
Since you did not have newer CFW, the directory was not created automatically - that is also expected.
We were not testing it on previous releases, but it should work. Other than FAN MODEs adjustments, as it requires Evilnat's CFW 4.92.2 and up.
If you've seen temps and FPS indicators - the emu itself is copied correctly and should be reading custom config files.

Did you use NTSC USA version of the game?
And how did you distinguish that the config is not loaded?
Did you SPS'es at the beginning of the race

Edit:
please check newly attached modded emus under thread below:

How about FPS indicators in ps2_emu? Gxemu and Netemu have FPS indicators.

Hey, sorry for the late reply,

Yes, emulator does work fine by creating the /gx/ folder manually as you mentioned and dropping the config files there.

However, at the time of writing this thread it looked like it was not working because the config file i grabbed from the repository https://github.com/kamilb880/gxemu_custom_configs for R: Racing Evolution (NTSC-U SLUS_207.21) actually does not fix the car rendering problem, that's how I was "distinguishing" that the config file maybe was not being loaded. Turns out it was being loaded but the config file was not fixing the rendering bug.

So, there might be an issue with that config file itself or maybe it's outdated, although it says on the github that it was uploaded only 2 months ago, you may want to have a look at that one.
Instead, I tried loading this one https://www.psx-place.com/threads/compatibility-list-ps2-on-ps3.1306/post-408028 posted by mrjaredbeta and it did the trick :encouragement:
