I just want to know if this controller works on PS3 safe/recovery mode or not. I need the controller to do a system update with my USB, but I need to go in safe/recovery mode for it, and I heard that the controller I put worked. I just want to know if that is true, because I really need to know, and fast. The controller is: VOYEE Wireless Controller Compatible with Playstation 3 PS-3 Controller with Upgraded Joystick/Rechargerable Battery/Motion Control/Double Shock (White) for 15 bucks (but its on discount, originally 17 dollars), with 792 reviews.

These work in recovery, red or black or whatever colour they have .
Notice the straight edge near between L1 / R1 , your's is different .
I would be safe than sorry and buy something a little more expensive .
Also, for each fake controller, these grip caps help a lot .

So I did some research, and appearently it does work on safe mode.

My friend got a VOYEE controller for their system but it arrived broken so they had me fix it. I highly recommend taking the controller apart and looking at the battery, the one shipped to my friend was punctured out of the box. I replaced it with a OEM ps3 battery which has a stronger plastic housing to protect it from the unfinished pcb. As far as the debug menu is concerned I am not sure but I recommend taking a look at:

I have not tested this but it should enable 3rd party controllers in the recovery menu
