I thought 4.90 firmware was supported!! Everywhere that shit says "4.90 and below, Now supports 4.90!" I guess they're all bloody lying because now I can't figure out how to roll back this thing! If you couldn't tell, this is my first time getting into ps3 modding, and after a day, I'm already quite tired with it. I buy a ps3 just for this only to find out I get the one model ps3 slim that isn't exploitable…

What is your current situation? Were you able to put HFW 4.90? I have a super slim that I had put 4.89 HFW before HFW 4.90 was available. I don't know if I need to put official 4.90 then put HFW 4.90 or if I can install HFW 4.90 directly,

i have problems with hen i have the original version of 4.90 i would like to have that hen version so you can play modded hybrid firmware. I can't install because it doesn't show up that update can you explain why it doesn't show up

If I try to upgrade from 4.86, it's saying there's no suitable upgrade firmware on the USB stick. I've tried two different memory sticks, formatted correctly as FAT32 and the files on the right place on the memory stick.

1. Check that the USB pendrive is formatted in FAT32 and detected on XMB (the USB device is shown listed under Photos, Music, etc)
2. Verify that you have the folder PS3 in the root directory of the USB device. Inside the PS3 folder there should be an UPDATE folder with the file PS3UPDAT.PUP
3. All folders and file names must be in upper case.
4. Verify that the file name is the correct and the file extensions are not hidden.
5. Verify that the MD5 of PS3UPDAT.PUP is the correct.
6. Try installing from XMB and from recovery menu *without* any PS3 disc inserted in the Bluray drive.

Alternatively try buring a CD or DVD with the firmware update in the folder PS3_UPDATE in the root directory of the disc. Insert the disc and install from recovery menu.

Thanks. Had been using a USB 3 memory stick which wasn't working in the PS3's USB 2 port.

And make sure your usb is not GPT formatted either or it won't read.

Yes. After install HFW 4.90 you need to install HEN to unblock your console.

hi, have a problem, i dowload your link and place the PS3 Doc in my USB ( have format to fat 32 ) then i set my USB in the right on my ps3 ( ultra slim ) the USB has been detected bu when i try to update by storage media my ps3 say " no found "

maybe i miss something ? is 4.90 never jaylibreak before ultra slim

Remove any disc from the bluray drive.

Verify that the USB device was detected in XMB and the files and directories are in uppercase.

I suggest to try with another pendrive. It could be also your USB port.

Alternatively you can burn PS3UPDAT.PUP in the folder PS3_UPDATE of a CD or DVD.

Yes, you can play multiplayer games if you don't enable HEN after system start. If you enabled it HEN you can reboot and go online.

To go online with HEN enabled you must disable CFW syscalls to reduce the chances of being banned. Disable auto-login and do not use your main PSN account to go online if with HEN enabled. Instead create a new account to play online. This will prevent that you lose your purchased games in case your console or account is banned.

Yes, you can install HFW 4.90 directly over 4.87 HFW. HEN is removed when it's done.

You will need to reinstall HEN from http://www.ps3xploit.me

always use usb port closest to disc drive for system updates. some models may require using safe mode (recovery).
