Phat PS3 (CHECHK11) with ylod after 4 years without use (shows menu for a split second)

Hi there, English is not my first language so I apologize if I make grammar mistakes. Hope you can help me with this problem

I bought this PS3 Phat second hand (CHECHK11) in 2014 in a perfectly working state. Back then, I was fully aware that these models are prone to failure, so I gave it the utmost care. The person who sold it to me told me to use it on vertical position because apparently that helped to reduce overheat (dunno if that was true, but I listened to him and always used it on vertical position). Anyways I stopped using this console in around 2018 and haven't touched it since, until three months ago when I tried to turn it on after 4 years of not using it, only to be greeted with the well-known ylod... The system shows the main menu for a split second before it shuts off, so the processor is still working (as far as I can tell). I'm really sad that the console stopped working out of nowhere, so.. does anyone know what might be causing this ylod? Can it be repaired? Is it worth it?

Well almost all can be fixed. Are you handy with electronics? If so you can wire up a UART to diagnose the exact issue as it will give you the fault code.

Then it is always a good idea to replace thermal paste & do a delid if you feel safe doing so. Now all this being said it is probably cheaper to find a new system if you can't do the work yourself or know someone that can help. They are pretty much giving them away as you can find a non-BC models for under $100.
