Installed a 1TB Crucial MX500 SSD in my PS3 Slim a while ago and while it does work quite well, there is one thing that i noticed that kinda bugs me.
The first thing i noticed is powering on the PS3 Slim via my Official Dualshock 3 Controller (by pressing the power button) the PS3 Slim will boot up, but the 4 LEDs on the DS3 will just constantly keep flashing and not pair.
If i press the reset button hole on the DS3 (LEDs go off) and then press the PS Button again, it will pair just fine (with 1 LED on)
Now, i have noticed, this seemed completely random. Sometimes it will pair the DS3 without any problems and sometimes not.
But i have noticed, that sometimes the PS3 Slim will boot up as per normal (time wise) and other times it takes longer to boot.
It's at the longer boot time, that the DS3 won't pair until i press the reset button and then it will. If the PS3 Slim boots up quickly at the normal time, the DS3 pairs immediately.
Things i've tried :
This was happening while running Evilnat 4.87 .. upgraded to Evilnat 4.88.2 and no difference.
Put the original 1TB Toshiba HDD back inside the PS3 Slim ... and problem never happens. PS3 Slim boot time is the same every time and no problems with DS3 pairing. If i put 1TB SSD back in, the problem is back.
Have tried multiple Official Dualshock 3 controllers i own (i have 9) they all do the same thing with the SSD installed.
Have tried reassigning the Dualshock 3 to different numbers .. no difference.
Have installed the 1TB SSD into another PS3 Slim i own and the behavior is the same.
Conclusion : Something funny going on with the SSD.
Apart from replacing the SSD with a different brand .. which is not an option for me financially at the moment, any advice on what is causing the PS3 Slim to have random bootup duration times ? and if they any settings, fixes or anything i can do ?
