PS3 1TB Internal SSD Random Boot Delay and DS3 Pairing Problem

Installed a 1TB Crucial MX500 SSD in my PS3 Slim a while ago and while it does work quite well, there is one thing that i noticed that kinda bugs me.

The first thing i noticed is powering on the PS3 Slim via my Official Dualshock 3 Controller (by pressing the power button) the PS3 Slim will boot up, but the 4 LEDs on the DS3 will just constantly keep flashing and not pair.

If i press the reset button hole on the DS3 (LEDs go off) and then press the PS Button again, it will pair just fine (with 1 LED on)

Now, i have noticed, this seemed completely random. Sometimes it will pair the DS3 without any problems and sometimes not.

But i have noticed, that sometimes the PS3 Slim will boot up as per normal (time wise) and other times it takes longer to boot.

It's at the longer boot time, that the DS3 won't pair until i press the reset button and then it will. If the PS3 Slim boots up quickly at the normal time, the DS3 pairs immediately.

Things i've tried :

This was happening while running Evilnat 4.87 .. upgraded to Evilnat 4.88.2 and no difference.

Put the original 1TB Toshiba HDD back inside the PS3 Slim ... and problem never happens. PS3 Slim boot time is the same every time and no problems with DS3 pairing. If i put 1TB SSD back in, the problem is back.

Have tried multiple Official Dualshock 3 controllers i own (i have 9) they all do the same thing with the SSD installed.

Have tried reassigning the Dualshock 3 to different numbers .. no difference.

Have installed the 1TB SSD into another PS3 Slim i own and the behavior is the same.

Conclusion : Something funny going on with the SSD.

Apart from replacing the SSD with a different brand .. which is not an option for me financially at the moment, any advice on what is causing the PS3 Slim to have random bootup duration times ? and if they any settings, fixes or anything i can do ?

the PS3 was not designed to use SSD. it is hard to know if a SSD is working okay with PS3, because they can work fine for a while and start having issues later. hopefully this is the only problem you have using it. :)

if you own or can find a ps3 bluray/media remote control or move navigation controller, use that to start the ps3 then turn on the controller after the ps3 has booted.

the PS3 was not designed to use SSD.

And yet, plenty of people on forums have posted using them without issues.

I'm looking for solutions, not work-arounds.

If you don't know what the problem is, or have a solution, then please don't reply any further.

Thankyou.

Saying it was not designed to take a SSD is completely unhelpful.

Oh Great, another person posting non helpful advice to the question.

If he is a Moderator, then he should be Moderating and not chiming on a problem he can't answer.

I was gonna ask about the problem on Reddit, but didn't want to deal with BS answers.

I guess this forum is no different.

You do realise by acting immature towards people, they're more than likely to NOT help you. So take this with a grain of salt:

1. PS3's were not designed with TRIM. The reason you have boot delays is because of this and is wearing out the SSD faster than it would normally would hence the degrade in performance. Some people have this issue faster than others, some don't.

2. For the DS3 problem, try multiple controllers if you have them. If they are all experiencing the same problem then it's most likely a faulty BT board inside the system, in which either replace it or get a new system.

So in closing, either backup the data from the SSD and move to a standard hard drive that it is made to use or refrain from making stupid posts that take 5 seconds to google and a couple of brain cells to fix, then throwing a hissy fit when someone doesn't say what you want them to say.

Your attitude is poor, find a new place to act like a child..

We certainly do not need you here or that attitude.
