PS3 cannot access safe mode

So my PS3 started to either give me the black screen when I start it up, or if image does shows up, then console would qork perfectly fine until a pixelated image shows up. I then toon my console to UbreakIfix for an inspection. They confirmed it is not a hardware issue but rathed software and my hard drive is corrupted. They told me to go to safe mode to fix system files. I tried to acess safs mode but then the screen pixelated. After that, I tried to access safe mode again but got a black screen. Can anyone help?

I had a similar issue, and I had 2 options.
  1. Format PS3 hard drive using my PC.
  2. Replace PS3 hard drive.
I ended up replacing it with an SSD I had laying around from an old laptop. You could try doing either and see if that works for you.

If I put my PS4 HDD into my PS3, will it automatically take me to the format screen?

What do You mean by "pixelated image"? This have nothing to do with HDD...

Yes, exactly as any other HDD because for PS3 it is empty. She will format PS4 HDD and You will loose all content on it of course.

This is a RSX with bga issues. If your PS3 just "freezes" and/or shows, for example, random green dots, I'm pretty sure it can be the CELL. If you wanna test something, you can take it apart, remove the BD drive and with your finger make some pressure over the clamp that's under of it. That's the RSX on your console.

Alright, update. I took my PS3 to UBREAKIFIX for a repair. They not only reflowed the system but also cleaned out dust/grime as well. However, while the system now works with the PS3 startup and dashboard, the screen turns black after a few minutes. UBREAKIFIX told me it's likely components overheating and it would require a motherboard resoldering which they don't do and told me to find a different store. What should I do?

You should get the syscon error logs and post them in the PS3 hardware related threads, there are a few people who can provide guidance with this kind of things.

If the console can still run a few minutes on XMB, you can install the PS3 Advanced Tools then run the syscon error log dumper otherwise you will have to solder a USB TTL adapter on the mobo.

How do I get system error logs?

Would PS3 advanced tools display hardware issues?
Not exactly, the error logs is a series of error codes with timestamps, basically the last 32 errors the syscon encountered, the tool dumps the list of errors to file on USB, it doesn't display anything.
The errors help figure out what part(s) of the hardware cause(s) issues.
A few people have been researching and identifying the various codes and their causes, correlating that data with hardware parts malfunctions. They should be able to help.

One thing I did not mention was UBreakIFix said the console's problems are caused by overheating which itself is caused by a component. That fix requires resoldering which they do not do and told me to find a different store. Now that I have the system back now, I plugged it into my TV. The first time I started it, I heard the PS3 startup sound but no screen. I then turned it off by holding the power button. The second time I turned it on, it had no screen at all and the fan was very loud. I turned it off again by holding the power button. The third time, I got the yellow light of death. However a few minutes later, I got no yellow light of death but no screen.
