PS3 PS3 LED Diagnostics

I've heard there is a LED Diagnostics that can be activated after the 'Fan Test/Self Clean' boot.

(Hold Eject while plugging in PS3 Slim to do Fan Test/Self Clean boot)

Anyone know for sure how to activate this?

It will apparently give Diagnostic codes of "Red, Red, Red, Red" for a working console and "Green, Red, Green, Red" for a YLoD console. I've yet to see it myself, but have seen a few different people talk about it.

Again see the page I linked in your other thread it has all this on it.

This is what it says:

"I have found what I think is a diag mode that displays error codes using the power button light, kind of like what an OBD-1 ECU on a car would do. To activate it you have to do a fan test and wait until after the ps3 powers off(this much I am sure of) then you have to press eject and then power rapidly many times in succession also try holding eject and pressing power. Once you enter this mode the power light will flash yellow for about 1 second then the status of 4 component's(which ones I don't know) within the ps3 will be displayed by the power light blinking 4 times for each 4 component's. Then the yellow light blinks again letting you know the cycle has started again. "

Do I press eject and then power, in sequence, in succession. Many times.... Or do I hold eject and press power many times?

Because neither of those did it...

Here is another guy talking about these diagnostic codes:

"I am getting an error code of ggrr/gggg/ggrr/grgg which i'm led to believe is a southbridge issue,so i have reflowed the southbridge on the rework station.
I now get a LED error code of ggrg/ggrr/gggr/gggg , i'm hoping someone can link me to a site with the codes so i can hopefully get this console back up and running."

I was able to consistently get into LED diagnostic mode by (after doing fan test), pressing power button 3 times, eject 3 times, then power 3 times again. just dont press them too fast.
My PS3 slim works, but still doesnt show all green on the led code.
(with no dvd drive) gggr, gggg, gggg, grgg. reconnecting the drive didnt change anything.
Unplugging the controller and video output didnt change anything.
I have 2 more slims that dont work, 3 Phats and a few super slims too so ill test this on those too when i get to it

would be great to have a guide for these codes but afaik no one has such a thing yet

Tried one of the other slims. when power button pressed, it beeps and goes green for a second before going dark. press again - goes to standby, press again, turns on then off.
Led code is ggrr, gggg, gggg, ggrr.
weird that green seems to be good and red is bad for me

I'm reviving this thread.

These codes can be interpreted as follows. It's binary.
Code:
GGRR = 0011 = 3
GGGG = 0000 = 0
GGRR = 0011 = 3
GRGG = 0100 = 4
After reflow=
Code:
GGRG = 0010 = 2
GGRR = 0011 = 3
GGGR = 0001 = 1
GGGG = 0000 = 0
2310 is not a SYSCON code that has been reported before. I suspect a typo, but it's possable this code was legit and Sherwood has new codes that are not on the SCE pdf or that have been reported yet. We know of at least 2 codes that are not on that PDF (5FFF and 1B01 for example).

5FFF was the code Euss had on the dev wiki where he reported this LED DIAG Mode was found...
Code:
GRGR = 0101 = 5
RRRR = 1111 = F
RRRR = 1111 = F
RRRR = 1111 = F

...(with no dvd drive) gggr, gggg, gggg, grgg. reconnecting the drive didnt change anything.
Code:
GGGR = 0001 = 1
GGGG = 0000 = 0
GGGG = 0000 = 0
GRGG = 0100 = 4
1004 usually resuls from being improperly shut off, like in a power outtage, or having the plug pulled. or it can occur from a failing power supply.
... ggrr, gggg, gggg, ggrr.
Code:
GGRR = 0011 = 3
GGGG = 0000 = 0
GGGG = 0000 = 0
GGRR = 3
3003 is usually CPU VRM related, but in slim versions it has been seen in a failed HDD (weird, but reports are reports).

I myself have a KTE-001 from a CECH-3001A that has the following error code sequence.
