Shorted my BC ps3.Ive checked all the fuses and theres continuity in all of them. What else?

Heres a bit of a sad one. I wont go in depth, but basically I put a faulty/shorted psu on my ps3 and it fried it. I then put a fresh, working psu and its giving me an immediate rlod when I press the power sensor. No green light at all, no nothing. Just a rlod. So far ive only checked all the fuses on the board and theres continuity in all of them. Yes, I know that the cell or rsx is probably dead, but I want to check everything before I give up.

Nec capacitors will show continuity when testing positive and negative that's normal, but more information on how you shorted it in first place would or could shine a light on what maybe the issue?

the psu was shorted. I swapped the psu it already had with another one to test something but I guess I grabbed a bad psu. I found it randomly in one of my drawers while looking for parts. The fuse in my house blew and everything obviously turned off. I then put the psu it had before and it gave me rlod. And please dont start saying things like "why?" "you should have checked it somewhere else" and stuff cause thats mostly the "advice" ive been given about this so far. Im sorry if im being mean but these are all the answers ive been getting so far.

OK.. So what was the reason for swapping the Psu in the 1st place with the shorted one?

Could it be a different issue not connect with the Psu at all?

I was getting rlod while in tough games. My first thought was that the necs are failing, but before I precceded to do anything I thought I would change the psu cause who knows maybe that was the issue. And before all this was done the ps3 worked fine. So no its not a different issue. Something has shorted in the motherboard and its not working anymore even with a good psu.

To be fair if the Psu was shorted it blew the fuse in your house it probably didn't do any damage to the ps3, if you had suspect nec issues it may need to replace the necs, I mean if no fuses are blown on board aswell then I'd personally say its another issue.

it worked before just fine. Im not saying the necs were good, but theres no way the necs could have gone from 80% working to 0% working after just changing the psu. And its giving me an rlod ive never seen before. Some people told me that the cell or rsx are probably dead which is what I think happened as of now. Anyway, another ps3 in my death book. Time to get another one and break it too.

Yup could well be the rsx chip, although it happened before you took it apart, a lot of people kill there ps3s when they force the heatsink from the motherboard due to the thermal paste sticking occasionally.

If all is lost give the rsx a reflow with some flux and see if it comes back for a while, at least you'd of learned somthing
