@Charles_n_town

Thanks again for all your time and effort. These all look great! I have added them to all the builds, ready for next release. I will tag you when 3.3.1 is released and you will be included in changelog and credits.

Much appreciated! ;)

thanks. yw. you're very kind. I learned several things about photoshop in the process, so it was a good learning experience.

What do you mean exactly? Coldboot rendering or image preprocessing before GTF conversion?

@Charles_n_town Would you mind to attach also project or bitmaps instead RAF archive? ^^

I think he's referring to how the coldboot normally fades in (i.e. how the header appears first, then the footer instead of all at once, fading in from left to right). that was my understanding. I can attach what I have. I always overwrote previous files, so it will only be of the last one I made. these images weren't overly complicated enough, so I didn't leave a psd, just the .dds files. I kinda feel like an idiot by not leaving some project files. I flattened the images, because I think blur required doing so as well.

btw, it contains dds2gtf and gtf2dds, which I wasn't sure was allowed, since I think both come from the official sdk.

Yes, I meant the coldboot rendering done on the ps3 (final effect), but now that you mention it, the image preprocessing to get ps3 to render it that way I was also curious.
I think the process is measured in milliseconds, each component of the coldboot rendering. You can increase it, I think, but I don't know about changing the order. I knew the footer rendered last, so I wasn't sure if you wanted that effect or not. I didn't include a footer with these or actually they're just blank images.

Yes, that is what I was referring to.

Always good to save original files, but I understand this was a less complex project from your perspective and something you were comfortable creating and could replicate probably fairly easily.

Happy to hear you learned a few new things in Photoshop

Thanks again!

@esc0rtd3w There are 4 images which are used in coldboot. Two versions for target resolution (which means vsh checking that before load xmb), so one HD and one SD. And for each, two versions of images: one crisp, one blurred. Probably it works in a way that one fade out when another appearing (simple alpha channel control of both images). It is fast enough for our eyes to blend each other without notice.

@Charles_n_town Oh, I see. Well, if you are new in Photoshop, you should know that you can use multiple layers and you can also disabling/enabling them on demand. So i.e you can keep original image in layer (or group of layers from which is assembled) as hidden, while have visible rasterized (flatten) and blurred on another. You don't need to delete anything. In case of cutting, you can using masks (personally I'm not a fan of it and always using just normal layers for that, which is BTW unprofessional, but I don't care).

I'm not familiar with PS CC (I'm using CS6) but below looks for me that this edges was made by hand:
coldboot_zoom.png
Better result you can get from layer/group blending options, or if none satisfying you, kind a hack:
duplicate layer, on it set 1px border to inside using contrast color i.e red, then rasterize layer, choose magic wand with all three options uncheck, touch area outside red, cut it, blend option color to white and rasterize it. Now you should have thin border layer for parent one which ideally covering up below and which you erasing by your own way in your own chosen places.
I'm not sure if what i said above have sense to you. ^^

I'm not totally new, but I'm far from an expert. what I did before was use the paint brush tool to delete the bottom part, USB, DEBUG, DEX, so it may look darker on the psd. it darkens slightly when you save as .DDS, which I saved as a dpf (w/ right settings). I'm using photoshop 2020.

they weren't made by hand if that's what you mean. I made them to spec via the text thing. I hope that doesn't look bad or prevent me from contributing to ps3hen. I can't tell what you mean exactly. I tried my best. I knew how to make a fade in/out coldboot, but I'm pretty new to photoshop. however, I learn fast, if that makes sense. I'll be very pleased if my coldboots are used. you're obviously more capable, but I want to contribute something.

No worries :-p

You did a great job and your work is appreciated. Tools help us do stuff faster. I think all of us who get into projects like that want to use or make tools to make our work easier :D

With that said, if you ever want to update it, or make others, just PM me or make a post and we can get it integrated in next build. For other image resources too (XMB icons mostly) if you ever get bored lol ;)

@Berion if you get bored too

Here is a snippet that i sent @Berion when originally requesting his help (was easier to copy/paste lol)

I made a zip with the icons that need updated visually and a zip with the current ones.

I basically was using that toggle icon as a template for naming them.

These need updated

disable_remaps_on_next_boot.png
dump_lv2_memory.png

toggle_clear_web_cookie.png
toggle_clear_web_history.png
toggle_hotkey_polling.png
toggle_patch_libaudio.png
toggle_quick_preview.png
trigger_hen_install.png

The ones that are currently toggles maybe could have a slight modification to them.

These have also been added recently, but i think thats all of them.

Edit: added hen-icons-updated-331.zip with all current icons used

Sorry. When I first read that post, about a week ago or something, I wasn't sure what to make of it. I just wanted to make sure I didn't make a mistake, because @Berion is a god at Photoshop. I'm still a noob. I hadn't built a coldboot for years either, so I had to reteach myself. Thanks for understanding.
