So I bought a broken PS3 thinking I could do Naked_Snake's Tokin replacement, but it seems my 60GB EU PS3 has a totally different problem.
When I first got it, I turned it on, and was amazed to see that it booted and I could see the PS3 logo (I unplugged the HDD). But the fan kept stepping up and getting worryingly loud so I shut it down. The air out the back wasn't hot at all, but the fan was spinning like crazy.
So it's just overheating, right? Took it apart, found too much thermal paste, cleaned it all up, put it back together.
This time, it turns on, the fan spins up, then it really spins up loudly, and then I get 3 quick beeps, twice. The fan stops and I get a blinking RLOD. Nothing ever appears on the screen.
Does anybody know what might be the problem?
EDIT: even though it's a blinking RLOD, looking from the Youtube videos this must be the famous YLOD...
