Hi everyone,

I have an issue with my non-bc phat ps3 where if I boot the ps3 into recovery mode, it does not recognise my ps3 controller even when I connect it using a usb cable. I recently got it deep cleaned and replaced the thermal paste to the ps3 by a cell phone company who also do servicing for ps3 so idk if they got to do anything with it. If there is any way to fix this issue, please let me know.

Firmware? The PS3 doesn't recognize some fake ds3 by default . And, unfortunately, most nowadays are fake. Some cfw have this patched in the emer_init.self (the recovery menu).

What is a fake ds3? For more context, I am replacing my hard drive with an sshd after the ssd hard drive didn't work for ps2 games. That is why I am booting my ps3 into the recovery menu so that I can put cfw which is evilnat. I had evilnat as my firmware for my ssd hard drive as well

Ds3=dualshock 3 controller
Oh, I see. My ds3 worked just fine before. It was recognised by the ps3 when I booted into recovery mode when I added my ssd hard drive. For the sshd, it doesn't for some reason. Do u think it needs to be charged fully for it to work?

Probably a bug. I remember I had a similar problem with an official ds4 on the pstv, then it suddenly worked fine out of no where. A fake ds3 worked somehow, which made no sense.
