XMB Package Downloader (XMBPD)

PS3 XMB Package Downloader - An XMB MOD that intergrates a Homebrew Store on the XMB v0.70

I have the same feelings that CFW should look as much as possible the same as OFW. As a graphic designer always frustrating me when someone adding i.e icon set which I don't like or worst are made untidiness and amateur (and this is 95% or more of the cases). I don't want sounds like an asshole but my main point is that official GUIs are neutral in their looks. They are designed to looks ok on dark backgrounds, light backgrounds, grey, and many different styles. Developers choice often force user to specific style, incompatible with other, and even often inconsistence with his own components. This is the main sin of all developers which want their brand.

In example: Rebug have Rebug coldboot which is good and pro. Have also WebMAN icons which should be choose from original RCOs because if user using custom P3T, "external" custom icons, are highly inconsistent. In another example: I hate DemonHades/Jaicrab CFW 3.56, everything which they done in style is bad and user cannot fix this or go back to original. The same is when author changing wave (the original is truly fantastic, far way better than wave from Orbis).

When I creating icons for WebMAN LaunchPAD and XMB Package Downloader, I'm trying follow the same rule - to make style neutral. I have tried copy original set but I have no idea how to achieve center border lighting and local semi transparent Independent from global lighting, so I made something different, yet still similar. But even this is not fully compatible with original and this is one of the reason why any fw modifications shouldn't be default opt on and included in PUP.

My three cents.

Well said!

If people want to customise then it should be a choice.

Here's a video showing the features of XMBPD v0.62.00, Of course its really webMAN MOD 1.45.02 FULL edition doing the work behind the scenes, so if you want to try this, make sure you have that too (or a newer version).

Turn up the bass! :)

Do you mean to hijack the xil2 mechanism? By way of xml, use xil to download files automatically & make new entries appear on xmb...?

That's a good way to do (at the moment I use whats new to host a dropbox list) but if possible it would be better I feel to add content to the pup file that will install straight to hdd0 from an extra tar pkg or possibly more (at the end of pup install),
I haven't had chance to look into it too much but it's something that I would like to do as I have many homebrew I would like to add into the cfw so people have access to it,
possibly packages install to tmp/packages then user goes to install packages from hdd in install packages/package manager and has access to local files without having to download them,
I guess the first step would be to look at where the ps3 gets it's install instruction from then hijack/add a custom for hdd0/tmp,
Of course the only problem with this is updates but we could push them later with xmbpd or whats new of some other method, any available and of course when you release each version of cfw you have the updated homebrew,
I wonder if you know off the top of your head where the ps3 install location instruction is, I don't remember ever seeing it?

Adding 2GB to a PUP would be savage :) Could be a complete AIO FW, literally could include ALL other PUP variants with the same version number already in the dev_hdd0/updater folder lol.

lmao,
that would be epic,
imagine evry cfw, every home brew, every pc tool (tp ftp to your pc),a 2gb jumbo pack update that takes hours to install :)

Epic mate,
Really good work there,
where are all those stored ?
Why is it webman dependant ? the install ?

I have a server for all the files, renting it. Also hosting the covers for webman/webman Launchpad there.

Yeah, Its webMAN MOD dependent due to the pkg handling code in webman MOD that can download to internal HDD and install automatically, normally can only download to USB like in your custom "install package files".

I think the best way to get rid of the wMM dependency would be to replace a system plugin like mysis did with xai_plugin.
System plugins are loaded automatically on request & can be called directly from xml. That's also what webrender_plugin & webbrowser_plugin do....
Such a shame mysis did not release the xai_plugin source otherwise we could have added the code from wMM to it & that was us... [emoji6]

Hey, thanks a lot, this is truly amazing!
I'm having some problems though, when I for example want to download Flappy Birds, a screen pops up saying "400 Bad request"
I made sure that webMAN is on the latest update and my internet connection is working fine too.
I'm on Rebug 4.80 DEX

Other downloads are working fine?

Hi, You need to have webMAN MOD FULL edition installed and running. It must be version 1.45.00 or newer. It should work then.

I'm able to download Themes and Wallpapers, that's about it.
Yeah that's normal if you don't have webMAN MOD FUL 1.45.00 or higher running, The themes and wallpapers don't require it.
