PS3 RPCS3 (PS3 Emulator) - November 2018 Progress Report

Christmas is over and the Year 2018 is coming to an end, but we have still to Talk about the Progress Reports for RPCS3 from November and December. While they released their Report for November today, their hard work still shows that with every new month, their Emulator is showing huge improvements by getting more and more Games running within the Emulator. Last month was no exception. In fact, the Team behind this wonderful Project (which you can still support by the way) celebrates a new milestone for November since it is the first time, that the percentage of Video Games in their Compatibility List have been risen above >80% for Titles, which are both "Playable" and "Ingame". Just in case if you wonder what this means now, it implies that from 3038 Game Titles for the PS3, you can load and play with exactly 2444 of them with minor or even no issues at all. Isn't this impressive? Well, I don't know what you feel now but when I read this high amount of Games which are supported, I needed to savor this slowly with my tongue. But way more needles to say is the fact that wich such a hard work this Team is keeping up, the gamble has already paid off not only for the Team behind this Project, but also for the whole community and I think we can already say that playing PS3 Games on a PC isn't just a niche anymore.

Hacking and Exploiting Video Game Consoles by both Hardware and Software always had a high demand by many people, not only when we talk about Consoles who had the name "PlayStation" inside. In fact, a lot of Hacks and Exploits can come across aboard when we compare all Releases from a whole year, like in 2018. But as usual, at the end of every year, many Hackers and Developers from all different branches come together to the city of Leipzig, Germany, to present their achievements in front of the wide audience worldwide. So as for this year, the Chaos Computer Club (CCC) welcomes you to join and to participate at the 35th Chaos Communication Congress - or 35C3 in short - which will held from 27th December until 30th December 2018. And because there were always many Hacks and Exploits presented for various Consoles from the "PlayStation-Family" in the past, this Thread will give you a good overview for - as the Title already suggests - Everything you need to know to keep track to the newest "PlayStation-related" Hacks and Exploits. This Thread will also keep updated if you will miss any important presentation for example, so you will be able to watch any Stream or Presentation in repeat. So better keep this Thread here bookmarked in your Favourites. :)
PS News Meet "GameBook" - An Interesting Kickstarter-Campaign to make your own PS4 portable!

Home Consoles such as the PS4 or Xbox One are made for playing them "at Home" right? Well, I bet there are at least a few people who already asked themselves several times: "Why I can't play Red Dead Redemption 2 while sitting on the train?" Sadly the answer was mostly that "You can't" before, due to several technical problems. Sony had some good ideas with their PlayStation Vita to play "AAA Game Titles" on the go but lacked of actually those "AAA Game Titles" and due to expensive accessories you needed to get most of the Console. And playing on the Nintendo Switch is not satisfying for everyone. So you had either the choice to buy one of those very expensive "Gaming Notebooks" for several Thousand Dollars or you read a book while getting to work or to school by train. But the People behind the "GameBook" had bothered oneself about this problematic question by starting a Kickstarter-Campaign to introduce their newest invention to people like you who asked the same question from time to time. And the coolest thing about this Campaign is, you won't need to disassemble your PS4 bit by bit to create your own "Custom PS4 Notebook" only to get the PS4 Hardware fitting inside a Notebook Case. Just use your regular PS4 and you are already on the go. How convenient is that?
PS1 #PlayStationClassic Released & Hacked --- Everything you need to know!

And there it is. After other Console Developers like Nintendo, SEGA or ATARI re-released their older but wonderful and classic Home Consoles in it's new and tiny chassis marketed with some catchy words like "Mini", "Retro" or "Flashback", Sony decided "to jump on the bandwagon" by releasing their own Classic Console in a miniature format - namely the "PlayStation Classic". Announced back in September 2018, the PlayStation Classic is a dedicated version of the Original PlayStation (in short "PS1" or as you would know it as "PSX") providing 20 Classic Video Game Titles built-in. And while reviews from other video gaming journalists showed already that sadly, the PlayStation Classic is a bad example how to re-release a "Retro Console" compared to it's competitors, this Thread will help you with Everything you need to know about the Console itself, it's built-in Video Games and how fast several well-known Developers from other Sony Consoles are already tinkering with it to fix several Problems Sony was too lazy for and to provide additional Features like Emulators and other Homebrew etc.
PS Vita Could Sony be working on a PSVITA successor? [UPDATE: No they don't!]

UPDATE (29th Nov.): A quick clarification - No this won't be a PSVITA successor! Thanks to the "sharp eyes" from our community member @Naked_Snake1995, this Patent Filing doesn't describe a Cartridge using for a PSVITA successor, where he explaines that this Cartridge is already in use for a total different Sony Product sold in South Korea only. You can find his explanation down below while the Original News is kept for reference only. I (Roxanne) have to apologize personally for any missunderstanding!
PS4 PS4 4.74 Kernel Exploit released by @CelesteBlue - including "NoBD" Support !!!

Folks, we have to talk. Today, well-known Developer @CelesteBlue released a new Kernel Exploit for System Firmware 4.74. Now you will probably think: "Wait a minute, we already have a Kernel Exploit for System Firmware 5.05. Why I would need one for an older System Firmware?" This is a legitimate question and if you have "exploited" your PS4 using System Firmware 5.05 already, then you won't need to do anything. But you don't have to forget that back in Time, when Sony released newer System Firmwares after Version >4.74, like Version 5.05 for example, they included a "banana skin" for PS4 owners with a broken Blu-ray Drive where their Consoles are refused to get updated by giving them the famous "E-801809A8" Error Code in return. And since those users weren't able to update their PS4's to System Firmware 5.05, they were likely being stuck on Version 4.74 without having any chance to exploit their PS4's at all. But luckily, Developers like @CelesteBlue - together in Collaboration with @SpecterDev and @notzecoxao - didn't forget those users by giving them a Kernel Exploit for System Firmware 4.74, so they can overcome those "security measures" made by Sony and by making their Consoles updatable again, so they can enjoy the latest PS4 Kernel Exploit as well!
PS3 RPCS3 (PS3 Emulator) - October 2018 Progress Report

Well, that was fast. After they announced their (delayed) "Progress Report for September", the great Team behind RPCS3 didn't wanted to "leave you out in the rain" again. So here is the "October Progress Report" which shows again how much they are hard-working to make this Emulator better and better by making more PS3 Games compatible with their Emulator. And speaking about PS3 Games, if you watched the latest Progress Reports from the last few months closely, you will have probably recognized that with every new Progress Report, more and more AAA Titles were getting more Support and a better Compatibility from Time to Time, even with supporting a 4K Output Resolution. This month isn't a exception and the Team is proud to announce that "Yakuza Kenzan" is fully playable now. Now you will think: "Wait a Minute - I never heard about "Yakuza Kenzan" ??? That's right, this is one Game of the "Yakuza Series" which was released in Japan only as "Ryū ga Gotoku Kenzan" so it never saw a "Western Release". That's even cooler that such a AAA Game which wasn't available for most of the people are now playable for everyone, even with a higher Resolution as the original PS3 would be able to do so. How "Butt ugly" is this? :P
PS3 RPCS3 (PS3 Emulator) - September 2018 Progress Report

Yes, you are right. We are already in the beginning of November and you have to read the monthly Progress Report from September? Don't worry. The great Team behind RPCS3 didn't forgot to keep you updated. They were just a little bit too busy to release their newest Progress Report. But before you leave, this month's Progress Report is worth reading as well since in this month, they well go with you "deeper" in terms of a Technical Presentation by showing you the "inner Workings" of the Texture Cache and how it was getting improved from time to time, which is very interesting. And not to forget that there are also various improvements in AAA Game Titles such as Uncharted 3, The Last of Us, Resistance: Fall of Man and many more! Do I have to say more? :P
