PS3 4.78 FERROX CFW (Standard CEX) v1.00 by Alexander

PlayStation 3 CFW developer Alexander has released the latest version of his FERROX CFW, following the release of PLAYERKP420's 4.78 CFW. This CFW from Alexander while a Standard CEX also (like platerkp420's) does contain some additional features and patches for PS3 Custom Firmware users. In this edition of FERROX the developer has Disabled Cinavia, Removed Epilepsy Warning on the console boot, A new feature in FERROX firmware is an Integrated Package Manager to replace the standard Install Package Files. [strike]Now unlike playerkp420's CFW this does not handle MAMBA in the current form and according to test done in the developer's notes MAMBA v2.1.5 "Identified a Brick. Do not use FOR SAFETY UNTIL NEXT UPDATE.". [/strike] [break]ss[/break],

UPDATE: Alexander has mentioned that MAMBA is working fine and does not cause any bricks, the message was from a test build and accidenettly applied to the news source location.

hi i have a broken wifi or bt and broken blueray how can i update my ps3 ?? thankss noob here
You should have a look at MFWBuilder. There are tutorials about this...
With MFWBuilder you can patch an existing CFW for noBD/noBT very easily this way you are not limited to official releases.

Very NICE

I try it some featurs are insane realy nice work

but i have 1 problem i cant install CCAPI 2.60 2.60 rev
the same with 2.70 and 2.70 rev this firmware is not supportet.

what can i do to make it compatibly

any ideas

You can also use the excellent DB playerkp420.
It makes little sense to release one like it.

Not sure I understand. I like your Dualboot firmware because I play legit games online and like the fact that I can go back to your CFW anytime I want.

Do you mean that you will not release the Dualboot version? If there is an alternative, I did not understand what it was... :-)

He meant that playerkp420 has already released a DB CFW. No point releasing a duplicate of sorts.

The last CCAPI version is compatible up to 4.76 so it seems normal that you get a "firmware not compatible" message. It will be updated soon, no doubt. Be patient.
In the meantime, you could use SEN Enabler 5.9.2 to spoof your ids. However read the documentation/tutorial well if you have never used it before.

What's your last question? Does the fw need spoofed? Are you asking about firmware version (in which case the answer is obviously no) or are you asking about ids like idps/psid (in which case the answer is also no)?

There is no need to spoof anything but if you use PSN then spoofing ids (with a set from a dead console) would protect your console from a ban, the spoofed ids would get banned instead, along with the PSN account you are using. (You could use a 2nd PSN account for general PSN use & keep your main PSN account safe, to be used only when you really need it.)

This is a quote from a post dated just before the CCAPI update bringing support to 4.78.
Using the latest update, CCAPI now works both in 4.76 spoofed to 4.78 and in 4.78.

hi, thanks for your advice,ok so i got myself a cech 2003b, so do i need to buy an E3 Flasher? or send it away to be done by a pro?
Once it has been done with the flasher is it permanent? i mean like i cant lose it by installing OFW/CFW and need to redo it?if u know what i mean...
I can get one for around £29 and watched Tutorial, looks quite doable, im confident i can do it anyway with correct files...
What would you advise?

let me preface by saying I didn't read the above, but if ur downgrading ur console, it's permanent as long as u don't install ofw above 3.55. it would be cheaper to send the console to someone who has an e3 since it can be reused. buying the e3 would probably be more expensive than paying someone who has one to do it.

Of course you could try to do it yourself but be cautious.
Many people before you have watched tutorials & thought they were up to it...
Peruse the forums threads about downgrading, you will see that many people have experienced problems or bricked their PS3....
Confidence is a good thing but unless you are 100% sure of your knowledge & skills, you shouldn't presume that it will be easy.

Flashing is permanent unless you make the mistake of installing an OFW more recent than 3.55 as pinky already mentioned. There are however ways to ensure that this will not happen.

You mentioned prices in sterling. If you're in the UK, why don't you get in touch with baileyscream? He wrote a very good/thorough tutorial about downgrading & he is in the UK too. He will be able to advise you.
He might also be willing to downgrade your console. .

Are we going to see your 4.78 DB firmware? I don't use dual boot with my flashers and I really like to use this instead. The last one I have is 4.76 and haven't seen a 4.78. Either way great work!!

I have no reason to release another DualBoot.
You can use it to player db 478 ;)

If you have noBD maybe it would be a good idea to familiarise yourself with MFWBuilder.
Using this great tool allows you to patch an existing firmware for noBD.
Useful because you don't have to wait for a release & you can choose the CFW flavour of your choice!

No problem. That was only a suggestion.
Of course, if you don't feel comfortable doing things yourself,, it's perfectly ok!
