Model imtercompatability with BD drives?

I know that you can swap power supplys between models, but can you take, say a G model BD drive and remarry it to a CFW A model, or use that BD drive to upgrade the OFW of a NoBD A model, to use a a stepping stone to get NoBD CFW?
 
The short answer is Yes you can remarry the drive providing its the same ribbon connection. In later phat models Sony started to use different ribbon cables that don't fit on the earlier phat models.

Yes, I was just wondering if the console would brick itself if the firmware on the Daughterboard was not was the MB is expecting. Saving alot of A models with this, thank you!
