Developer GrapheneCt has released BGFTP, a new FTP server that works in the background. It does not matter if your in-game or sleep mode or hanging around the Live Area, The FTP transfers are always working while the developer says this will not impact any performance of the running task, but does add a warning that transfer can be slowed down since they are running on Reserved System Cores and will be knocked to low priority on those reserves, but nonetheless a great way to transfer files from your PC (or other devices servicing as a FTP server) to either your homebrew enabled PS Vita or the PlayStation TV (aka vita tv)..

In this inaugural edition of The Power Supply (A new developer interview series) we have the pleasure to interview one of the legendary developer's of the PlayStation Homebrew Community. A developer whom has contributed on a variety of projects and been a master of some of his own . Very well known in the PS3 scene, this dev is responsible for projects that include the AIO Homebrew known as multiMAN, or the popular ps3 plugin known as webMAN (not to be confused with a forked version called webMAN MOD by aldostools). Then later on the emergence of the sMAN plugin can be from only one person and that developer is of course @deank . The developer has graciously given us some time for a Q/A interview to kick of this new series. Dean will give us a bit of insight on himself, along with his development journey on the PS3 . Also, we have asked the developer if he still has plans for a multiMAN (PS4) release after a small hint in the past that suggested the developer at least was contemplating the idea , Also, does Dean have any immediate plans for future development on the PS3/4, We have these answers and more from himself in the discussion below, so lets dive into:.

The PS3 has seen a new release involving a fork of a popular emulation project. Following the work of @CaptainCPS-X 's Final Burn Alpha Retro Loader (FBA RL) (a fork of the FBA libretro core w/ custom frontend), psx-place member @Crystal has forked the homebrew project with the release of FBNeo RL. While the original release for CPS-X contained a modified version of fb_aplha (libretro Core), this version from Crystal now contains the recently released FBNeo (FinalBurn NEO) libretro core. Libretro is describing this core as a blend of "Final Burn Alpha and old versions of MAME". If you have used the FBA RL before, now the biggest difference in this new fork will be the addition of some MAME support. Also, Crystal has made some other enchantments and changes listed below to fit the new core. Checkout this latest emulation release on a homebrew enabled console such as Custom Firmware (CFW) enabled PS3 or a PS3HEN powered PS3 for those console that can not install CFW,.

This is not a huge update but the dev has pushed a fixed to a "gamepad combo" issue that was reported by wmm user gosseux,The problem seemed to occur if combo "select+up/down" was disabled it also was disabling "Select+O" button combo. This since has been fixed with this new update, also there was a requested feature added. That feature (syscall command via web) should not be used unless you know you are doing as there could be some issue occur if used incorrectly. So its a use at your own risk feature . More about that feature can be seen in the changelog provided below.

One of the advantages of having an exploited system is the ability to create solutions and developer GrapheneCt has done just that with this latest release for the PS Vita or a PlayStation TV/Vita TV. If you find yourself with a hardware limitations/malfunction (like a broken volume button) or simply the ability to adjust the volume in real-time by an alternate means, then Volume Control Pack is something to keep a watch on as this project develops. In this initial release you can install the vpk or you can also install plugin for some added functionality. According to famed Vita developer @Rinnegatamante this release marks the first "system app" homebrew.. "system app which means you can run it while another app is running (eg: Open VitaShell and then open this homebrew and it won't ask you to kill VitaShell at app launch)"
