PS4 Homebrew Development on the PS4 could get a push with new C# Code & OpenGL Support from flatz

Developer flatz has made some improvements on the landscape of PS4 Homebrew development, as we have been suggesting for awhile the PS4 development cycle it still in its early stages. However many developer's have been making progress and the latest achievements were laid out by developer flatz who has stated on twiiter that he has managed to get "C# code working on PS4 (using JIT, non AOT)" and also fixing the OpenGL code (started by Zer0xff) so that now it works for homebrew developing needs. The dev has not released any code quite yet, but as stated on flatz twitter feed "still need to do more tests, it's just beginning (Hello World app at the moment), then if everything will be okay I'll release it". Flatz has suggested that " I think that with C# and OpenGL it will be possible to create system apps that use native PS4 UI and their .net libraries as well" when asked which .NET version where running the dev stated ."native Mono from PS4 firmware, it's used only for internal system apps, got it working for custom app (well, just PoC atm)".. This is encouraging news for the overall landscape of PS4 development and we will keep you posted as this research and as work progresses from flatz.

Have you ever wanted to know if a PlayStation 4 (PS4) console you plan on buying is hackable or not before the purchase? Well, with this handy new utility it could make that decision much easier when looking for a new PS4 Console . As developer KiiWii (aka DefaultDNB) who you may also recall from his recent work on X-Project has also been working on the PS4Ident utility, which is a simple website (JS webapp) that provides easily accessible information at your fingertips to help determine which firmware a sealed (box) PS4 contains. This is done with information provided on the box such as Model Number / Data Code or Product Number. Which can be quite the handy utility while in your local retailer or even with an internet purchase before you ever gain possession of the sealed unit. .

(UPDATE {v1.225}: See Bottom of Article) Developer @White Dragon has been trying to port OpenBOR Plus to the PS3. When the developer ran into some bottlenecks (Memory Leak issues) on the PS3 port, the dev posted this thread here in the psx-place forum seeking advice from scene developer's, After various trial and error's from the discussions the developer reached a "EUREKAAAAA!!" moment and success arose, as the port was now operational on a CFW enabled PS3 (not supported on HAN as this is a PS3 Homebrew). This homebrew engine is a continuation of the Beats Of Rage 2D game engine and has a rich gaming library of many beatem up games, This engine has been ported to the PS3 and runs on various other platforms like the PSP / Wii / Android to name a few. See additional details about the project and more about this PS3 port in the details provided below.

PlayStation News [Opinion] How to Control Scams & Frauds in the Scene(s)

There has been various fakes and imposter's hitting the scene(s), something we have seen over the years but it seems gaining a bit more attention and fooling more people then usual. To get a grasp on the situation we must realize what has changed from past generations compared to now. Social Media comes to mind and maybe is the biggest difference as many dev's are choosing platforms like twitter and facebook to release projects. In my view this is bad for various reasons, such as documentation of the community , but the biggest issue it opens the door for scammers to exploit unsuspecting user's and they have.... Its going to take a bit of habit changing/reverting trends but i think the scene(s) can limit these scams, here are some of my personal views about these issues ..
PS Vita / Ps TV LOLIcon - New Overclocking plugin (500MHz) by dots_tb released

.Developer dots_tb has released a new Overclocking plugin called LOLicon for the PS Vita / PlayStation TV that will obtain an overclock speed of 500MHz!!! This is kernel plugin that utilizes Joel16's VSH Menu and as a result provides you with onscreen access and options that the LOLIxon plugin provides, this plugin is still a work in progress and labeled experimental but it appears the developer has a great foundation to the project that is surely to evolve. As i was prepping this article psx-place member @Naked_Snake1995 posted in the comments below a great point, Vita user's may be at a disadvantage as the power consumption could drain your battery quicker, where as PSTV user's would not have that worry, this is theory is untested at this very time and unknown exactly how much your battery would be impacted but it surely going to impact it in some way. So beware of that aspect and let us know your experiences after using this plugin (but keep in mind its still experimental)..
