Folks, we have to talk. Today, well-known Developer @CelesteBlue released a new Kernel Exploit for System Firmware 4.74. Now you will probably think: "Wait a minute, we already have a Kernel Exploit for System Firmware 5.05. Why I would need one for an older System Firmware?" This is a legitimate question and if you have "exploited" your PS4 using System Firmware 5.05 already, then you won't need to do anything. But you don't have to forget that back in Time, when Sony released newer System Firmwares after Version >4.74, like Version 5.05 for example, they included a "banana skin" for PS4 owners with a broken Blu-ray Drive where their Consoles are refused to get updated by giving them the famous "E-801809A8" Error Code in return. And since those users weren't able to update their PS4's to System Firmware 5.05, they were likely being stuck on Version 4.74 without having any chance to exploit their PS4's at all. But luckily, Developers like @CelesteBlue - together in Collaboration with @SpecterDev and @notzecoxao - didn't forget those users by giving them a Kernel Exploit for System Firmware 4.74, so they can overcome those "security measures" made by Sony and by making their Consoles updatable again, so they can enjoy the latest PS4 Kernel Exploit as well!

Well, that was fast. After they announced their (delayed) "Progress Report for September", the great Team behind RPCS3 didn't wanted to "leave you out in the rain" again. So here is the "October Progress Report" which shows again how much they are hard-working to make this Emulator better and better by making more PS3 Games compatible with their Emulator. And speaking about PS3 Games, if you watched the latest Progress Reports from the last few months closely, you will have probably recognized that with every new Progress Report, more and more AAA Titles were getting more Support and a better Compatibility from Time to Time, even with supporting a 4K Output Resolution. This month isn't a exception and the Team is proud to announce that "Yakuza Kenzan" is fully playable now. Now you will think: "Wait a Minute - I never heard about "Yakuza Kenzan" ??? That's right, this is one Game of the "Yakuza Series" which was released in Japan only as "Ryū ga Gotoku Kenzan" so it never saw a "Western Release". That's even cooler that such a AAA Game which wasn't available for most of the people are now playable for everyone, even with a higher Resolution as the original PS3 would be able to do so. How "Butt ugly" is this? :P

The great fail0verflow team is back at it again with the PlayStation 4 (PS4) and this time around they have detailed some new developments in part 4 of their "PS4 AUX HAX" Series, In the recent write-up of the series some interesting details were shared on something that could potentially lead to a current firmware exploit? Its very early but we do know that when the failOverflow team shares information its like "holding the nuts" at the poker table, its solid information always. We have seen them work on various gaming consoles in the past and they were no stranger to elevating the PS3 and were the pioneers of Linux on the PS4 and also helped provide key information for exploits on older PS4 firmware in the past as well, The PS4 is entering the later stages of its life cycle and new exploits are a welcome site for a struggling homebrew platform that could be so vibrant on a device with so much potential, but lacking an exploit that gives user's that current firmware window for explortation.

Yes, you are right. We are already in the beginning of November and you have to read the monthly Progress Report from September? Don't worry. The great Team behind RPCS3 didn't forgot to keep you updated. They were just a little bit too busy to release their newest Progress Report. But before you leave, this month's Progress Report is worth reading as well since in this month, they well go with you "deeper" in terms of a Technical Presentation by showing you the "inner Workings" of the Texture Cache and how it was getting improved from time to time, which is very interesting. And not to forget that there are also various improvements in AAA Game Titles such as Uncharted 3, The Last of Us, Resistance: Fall of Man and many more! Do I have to say more? :P

Since Sony dropped the 4.83 System Update on the PS3 community, we have seen several new CFW options along with several utilities and tools arise as developer's have been making updates to their projects. Now we see the first AIO homebrew in the form of the ManaGunZ developed by @Zar to see full support for 4.83 (CEX) CFW. Also in this update there has been new scanning for those classic PHAT Ps3 consoles with the memory card readers. These changes and more are listed in the official changelog provided by Zar. October is a strong month including multiple Announcements and Releases nearly accross the whole "PlayStation-Platform". And while most of all Gamers outside are already waiting for a announcement of a "PS4 successor", there are also a lot of Gamers who enjoys their Games in a "new Virtual Reality" (literally speaking). Sony already delivered a solution for the PS4 - as you probably heard of it - the PlayStation VR (or PSVR in short). While the sales figures shows that we can speak about the PlayStation VR as a success together with the fact that they are the only manufacturer for consoles allowing Virtual Reality without competition, many Gamers were satisfied about the experience with it. But some of them still had critics which is OK, since the PSVR wasn't perfect. Let's have to be honest. Since it's launch back in 2016, the PSVR still can be seen as a "gimmick" and not as a "PlayStation Replacement". But this isn't because of the lack of power this device can deliver. It is more because the Developers can't handle to deliver the usability for a "AAA Game Title" since your actions and movements are limited. But this could maybe change in Future, according to a new Patent Filing!

UPDATE v1.01 - New Improvements Earlier this month developer m0rph3us1987 provided a new update (v1.01) for this NES emulator for exploited PS4 Consoles. In this update the ROM Folder can be changed with an edit to the config file, The NES "Select" button is now mapped to the PS4 Touchpad, which is a way to use the PS4 touchpad but eventually it would be great to see a feature to use something like the DualShock 4 Touchpad to play games that would require the Zapper Gun like the iconic Duck Hunt.. Hopefully some developer's agree and could implement something like that in the future (surely easier said then done.) and how back to reality you can see the latest changes in the update marked v1.01 below:

@Bobby_Downgrades not only released a suite of 4.83 STANDARD CEX CFW for the PS3, but also a suite of 4.83 COBRA CFW, developer Alexander recently also released a COBRA CFW now he two will differ a bit as this one from @Bobby_Downgrades is based off COBRA v7.3 (a lite version), so while both are 4.83 Cobra CFW the payloads while very similar are different versions.. The COBRA Editions contain all the Standard CEX features plus the extra Cobra features, plugin support, ISO Support, Network Streaming Support for Game over your local network are just some of those features added with the Cobra payload. Additional information about this release can see below along with the NoBD and NoBT editions to go along for those damaged console that rely on those type of builds.

Following the release of 4.83 FERROX COBRA, we have developer @Bobby_Downgrades who has dropped various editions of 4.83 Custom Firmware, first off is a suite of standard cex choices, If your console is running perfectly fine and has no damaged components the the regular standard cex will do just fine, but you have an issue where BD / Logic Board or the Bluetooth/WiFi chip then there is special version of the firmware to bypass those components and allow for your PS3 to be used agai (minus those components) This Standard CEX features all the usual CFW Patches for operating Homebrew App and personal backups, plus a few extra options for this CFW that can be seen in the details below

Following the release of 4.83 OFW update from Sony, developer @Evilnat did not waste no time in providing a spoofing solution for 4.82 CFW's with the release of SEN Enabler (which also contains many useful features for 4.83 CFW user's as well), but now the developer has a "cool" update in the forum of 4.83 CFW (CEX) Support for the Control Fan Utility (originally developed by Estwald), this utility was and still is generous (webMAN / webMAN MOD / SMAN have a variant and a different approach, but somewhat same result in the end, so do not use both and see what you like best!!) as it monitors the PS3 Internal temperatures of the CPU and RSX and adjust the fan speed accordingly cooling your system more effective then default Sony settings. Those have been proven to be problematic on some of those early gen models where more juice to the fan could perhaps of prevented some console from being damaged. If your console is not in a well ventilated or hot environment or you just want an extra layer of protection to help aid in the prevention of your PS3 console from overheating then this is a great utility only for PS3 Custom Firmware users.
