PS3 ScummVM v2.0 (Open Test Build) - PS3 / PS Vita / PS2 / PSP & Other Platforms need feedback !!!

Recently the developer's behind the official ScummVM project (many "Point & Click" type games engines emulated) have begun an Open Test for the Emulator, the downloads are open to all users that ScummVM supports, which is many. For our PlayStation Homebrew Fans there is builds for the PSP / PS2 / PS VITA-PSTV & PS3. in this test version of v2.0 adds support for additional 23 Games with this update, some of those titles include Leisure Suit Larry 7, Kings's Quest VII, Police Quest 4, Riven; Sequel to Myst & Starship Titanic along with 19 additional titles you can view listed below, to see additional titles this emulator can handle, no better place to look then the >> official compatibility list over at the projects official website www.ScummVM.org, that is also filled with tons of great details about this emulator for those want to enjoy this genre of Retro Gaming. .​

GameSonic Manager is another PS3 backup manager (an Iris Manager fork) from @Orion, the dev now adds support for recent 4.82 CFW releases, supporting both Standard Editions and Cobra (v7.53) (CEX based CFW's). While making some additional changes and also brings the Control Fan utility along with the journey, checkout all the details in Orion's release post found below​

I am sure many of you who have been on the outskirts of CFW for years might of heard of deank's multiMAN, well the developer has made an update to the popular homebrew via the app online updater, the changelog is simple but effective adding 4.82 CFW CEX Support. This backup manager and is a very functional homebrew, the file manager is quite impressive and spawns it own name mmOS, this is a great ps3 homebrew that continues to see support from developer deank,​

PS3 Ps3Xploit - An Expert's Guide from OFW to CFW (by aldostools) + A Simple Rebug CFW Install

Since the release of Ps3Xploit (NOR /NAND Flash Writer) that allowed for some PS3 Consoles to install CFW directly from 4.82 OFW there has been some user's having issue understanding the installation process, mostly from not reading or overthinking the steps. Sometimes is just needs to be explained a bit differently so new users understand some steps a bit more clearly. Plus, Thibobo has made a minor edit to 4.81.2 REBUG REX so the CFW be installed from 4.82 after executing the Ps3Xploit (without toggling QA) .Below you will see two tabs, the first one if the guide by Aldostools with the 2nd one being information about REBUG REX 4.81.2, the CFW of choice for many in the homebrew community. Its long history of being a safe stable & reliable firmware makes it an easy choice,with innovation behind the CFW in every release as well.. While it can be a very complexed firmware , it can also be very simple (standard like) CFW. To keep simple, its an easy, Just don't install the Rebug Toolbox (pkg)​

The NOR Dumper was released alongside the NOR / NAND Flash Writer, which for understandable reason got the bulk of the attention ,but a tool to dump the NOR Flash is always handy and can also be for console's on lower firmware's as well. This release shown by team ps3xploit's @esc0rtd3w are ports to various OFW so far as of writing (4.21 / 4.41 / 4.45) have been ported to go along with the 4.82/4.81 NOR Dumper. For most PS3 User's this will not interest you / be of any use for you. If you have to ask, then its nothing you will be needing. ​

PS3 Play Manager v1.11 - 4.82 CFW Support & New Temp Notification Option

_Slash_ has updated Play Manager to v1.11 with 4.82 CFW (CEX) Support and also some Temp notifcation options. This fork of Iris Manager called Play Manager by _Slash_ does not steer to far off the mother project (unlike IRISMAN that adds many features to the Iris Manager base), The iris manager project stopped by forks have carried it into future CFW support and Play Manager brings the original flavor with some tweaks to 4.82. A very functional manager but if your used to IRISMAN, it might (or maybe not) seem like a downgraded version depending on what type of features you use .​

PS3 webMAN MOD 1.47.06: Plugin now Supports 4.82 CFW CEX

Following the update to backup manager IRISMAN developer @aldostools also recently updated webMAN MOD, this popular PS3 plugin is a manager but in plugin form. It contains many and also different functions then some of the homebrew apps that are managers such as the mentioned IRISMAN, multiMAN (by @deank) or ManaGunZ (by @Zar). This plugin is small in size but packs a powerful punch with a huge list of features and honestly this does not touch all the features for the plugin. PS3 IRISMAN v4.82: Support for 4.82 - CFW (CEX) (Update by Aldostools)

UPDATE: 4.82 DEX Supported Added Developer @aldostools has recently updated the Backup Manager IRISMAN (fork of Iris Manager) to version 4.82 with 4.82 CFW Support. This backup manager is feature rich and has alot of functionality, FTP support for transferring files from your PC to your PS3 via your local network, a very functional File Manager (pics included below) for the PS3, Also the homebrew has the MAMBA loader incorporated into the manager, which MAMBA is a payload with features similar to Cobra CFW, but MAMBA can be applied to Standard CEX CFW's. IRISMAN like many of the PS3 Backup Managers have so many features to list, just have to use them and view all the functionality yourself. IRISMAN has been a great homebrew that continues to get support from developer Aldostools.​

While there has been the breaking news of installing CFW on OFW 4.82 from Team PS3Xploit, It seems there may be some imposter's and i have seen a few examples already of malicious/mis-leading webkit exploits that are designed to brick a user's console's or even other malicious activities. Included below in this PUBLIC WARNING is an example, one of the scams going on they setup the exploit and package as working on a SuperSlim (it does not and will not), well due to meltdr2.in those SuperSlim's (and late Slim models) and also those later models we will not be seeing a CFW on those models. So there is red flag number 1, That is why the HEN style hack is the target for those console types., That portion needs developed still, but the hole to exploit is there with PS3Xploit. Unfortunately there might be other scammers and they make it look like its from PS3Xploit team using the same style to the page with Team PS3Xploit listed as the listed devs with this fake and dangerous release. To be safe make sure you verify that is been released here, as Team PS3Xploit will be releasing all materials on psx-place.com exclusively.​

UPDATE (Jan 2017): v2.0 update has been released IMPORTANT UPDATE (MARCH-2019) v3.0.1 was released providing support for 4.84 HFW (a new hybrid firmware that restores PS3Xploit for 4.84 OFW user's (See Link to HFW))
. There has been alot of development going on around the PS3 since the discoveries of the PS3Xploit (webkit exploit) on 4.81 OFW, first we seen the IDPS dumper (4.81/2 OFW) released with some big news & hope to come along with it, like a Flash Writer (downgrader) for OFW, so if you have been reluctant to buy a Hardware Flasher such as the E3 Flasher and bust open your PS3, but have been wanting to get your PS3 FAT(PHAT) Console and your Downgradable PS3 SLIM Models (up to & including 25xx models with minimum installable version <= 3.56) on Custom Firmware, then here is your chance with a 100% SOFTWARE SOLUTION thanks to the work of PS3Xploit Team ( @bguerville, @esc0rtd3w & W) along with contributions from new team member @habib to help expedite this release. Essentially what this Software Solution does is write a patch to the CoreOS (on NOR/NAND Chip) and when the PS3 Console is then rebooted you can install a Custom Firmware directly, So downgrading back to 3.55 is not required in the process, rather "Direct OFW to CFW patching" is done to allow for Custom Firmware Installation.​
