Sadly we have bad news to report, the type of news that is never easy to relay to the community.. Our team and the PlayStation Homebrew community suffered a great loss a couple of years ago, when our great friend and an awesome contributor @UniqueUserName passed away. We sadly have more bad news to share concerning another member of our the community and our team . As if it wasn't bad enough already with passing of UniqueUsername, but some of our team's worst fears were finally realized very recently when we learned that one of our own, well known, well liked and very respected team member, a great friend to many of us, had also passed away some time ago, Sadly we have to announce @bitsbubba is no longer with us, but his spirit will remain with many and his influence/contributions will never be forgotten We knew that bitsbubba was having some health issues and while he did get some good news for awhile, a return of cancer had seemly taken its course and a toll on his body. This was someone who not just helped build psx-place.com & make it what it is today, but was a great member of the scene. It is with a heavy heart full of much sorrow that we extend our sincere condolences to his close friends & family. .

Developer VitaHEX has a new creation for the PS Vita / PlayStation TV community, following the recent PS Vita / PS4 Homebrew release Consolepedia (seen here on PS4 and Vita). Now the dev is back with the release of a new project titled HexFlow Launcher. With this app you will be to launch your games and also homebrew with a 3D CoverFlow interface that allows for Custom Covers to be used as well. The eye candy looks great and comes with some good features out of the gate in this that has just been updated to v0.2.x following the initial release this past weekend. In v0.2 there has been added support for PSP (adrenaline) bubbles, A new settings menu, new viewing option that displays a bigger view, plus various other changes (v0.2.1 hot fix was just issues as well, so if you have already updated to 0.2 beware there was a quick hotfix) in what appears to be another great projects for the Vita, which has been no stranger to some great homebrew.
PS VITA / PS TV [UPDATE: Version 1.13] Autoplugin 2 released by @TheheroGAC & ONElua Team!

Unlike the PlayStation 4 with it's slow Homebrew Content, the PlayStation Vita always saw a strong Content of Homebrew and other useful Plugins, which makes your life easier with a hacked PS Vita. In fact, we still see today new plugins released for this Handheld Console, no matter if you want to Overclock your PS Vita to make your favourite Games even better performing or if you just need some handy tools like an always running FTP Server, where you can transfer your favourite Games and other Homebrew Releases on-the-fly. But installing them wasn't always a easy task and there was even a risk when adding them manually, which could harm your complete System when pressing a wrong button. In short, it was always elaborate to install all those wonderful Plugins bit by bit. But luckily we had Autoplugin for this in the past and today, well-known Developer @thehero_ together with the ONElua Team are releasing Version 2, where not only you can now see which Plugins you have already installed on your PS Vita, but also that you can now directly download all translations inside of Autoplugin without any need to quit the App as it was necessary before. Together with more new Features you can see down below and with a new Design, Autoplugin 2 will make your life even more easier now for both you and your PS Vita!
PS VITA / PS TV [UPDATE 2] Super Mario 64 Ported to Vita, PSP, PS2, PS3 and PS4!

Yes, you read right... Super Mario 64 has been ported to the Vita, PSP, PS2, PS3 and PS4 (not to be confused with emulated)! You will need to build your own copy of the game using your own legitimately obtained N64 Rom. Do NOT ask for links or pre-complied copies on this site, or you will be banned. And definitely do NOT link to any pre-complied copies! Super Mario 64 is arguably one of the greatest video games of all time, and certainly one of the most significant releases of it's time. Personally, I remember having my parents drop me off at Toys 'R' Us for hours at a time, just so that I could sample a little of this incredible 3D platformer on the demo-kiosk before it was officially released to the public. I will never forget when Babbage's called me three days prior to the release of the Nintendo 64, and said I could come pick up my console and copy of Super Mario 64 that day. I spent countless hours mastering the controls, obtaining all 120 stars, and just enjoying the beautifully created worlds.

PS VITA / PS TV [UPDATE: v0.19.1] GE Patch - PSP Native Resolution on the PS Vita for Some Games

Last time we reported news about Thefl0w (a.k.a. TheFloW, a.k.a. TheOfficialFloW, a.k.a. Flow The Bounty Hunter), he had disclosed his PS4 Kernal Exploit for OFW 7.02. Today, we now are receiving news that he may be on the bounty chase again, this time going after PSP native resolution on the PS Vita and PS TV. The current bounty for bringing native resolution to PSP games on the PS Vita is at $1,535.00. GE Patch Plugin may just be the start of that, which was released as version 0.1 just earlier today (and version 0.11 was just released hours ago) Currently, PSP games being ran on the Vita are actually being run through an ME (media engine) which is emulated by the Vita's CPU. As it stands, most games only run at half the resolution of actual PS Vita games, with the exception of a couple of GTA titles where full resolution has been achieved (from none other than TheFloW himself: see here). The end goal is for the PS Vita to to emulate the GE GPU and redirect the drawing to the Vita's GPU, allowing for full native resolution.

There has been a lot of commotion going on in the Vita scene regarding playing PSP games at native resolution on your PS Vita and PS TVs. We first saw the release of TheFloW's GePatch, which essentially is a plugin that would allow for some PSP games to utilize the Vita's hardware to run at a much better resolution. Since the initial release, we have already seen 11 updates in less than half a month; with each new release adding more support and bringing us closer to the dream of playing all of our PSP games at full native resolution. Along with the updates of GePatch, TheFloW also released an updated version of the custom PSP firmware Adrenaline for end-user consumption, bringing even more compatibility to his incredible plugin. Following close behind this release, there has been a flood of updated Adrenaline related applications, plugins and tools,

After creating last month's PS Vita and PS TV Mid-Month Release Roundup, I noticed another developer had been hard at work releasing several PS Vita and PS TV projects. I figured I should spotlight all the tremendous applications and plugins GrapheneCt had been producing last month, both for end-users and developers. Let's take a look at his releases, starting with the beginning of August. The HonRipper v1.0 plugin was released August 1st, and it allows users to extract data from .MNH (Marlin-Hon format) books through the PS Vita Sony Reader application; and on the same day, libShellAudio v1.1 was released for developers, which is a PS Vita library that can be used in system and music applications to play audio files using SceShell resources. On August 2nd, we saw two releases: MARISA Highlow PS Vita v2.1, a port of a homebrew highlow card game; and BGFTP v3.1, an application that allows for Background FTP transfer to and from your PS Vita and PS TV. Seven days later on August 9th, we saw two releases for developers: libvitaSAS v1.01, a SceSas and libaudiodec library wrapper that supports system mode applications; and libvita2d_sys v1.22, a 2D library for the PS Vita that

@HWNJ has released FunTuna at PSX-Place, which is a collection of existing PS2 homebrew that has been edited and packed for easy newbie consumption. This project comes with custom versions of Fortuna, Free McBoot, uLaunchELF and the Free McBoot Configurator as well. FunTuna only works on Slim PS2 models, even if they comes with BIOS 2.30 or above (SCPH-900XX), no matter the region; and even works on emulators (PCSX2) and consoles with mod-chips installed. With the latest advancements in hacking the PS2 (FreeDVDBoot), now is a great time for users new to the scene to get involved; and HWNJ's release has just made everything a whole lot easier for first time users. Also, it is nice to know that once you have installed FunTuna on your PS2, you can easily make a copy from once Memory Card to another, allowing you to share the experience with your friends. You can download your copy today from the link located at the bottom of this article.
