PS4 Latest PS4 Jailbreaks Developments - Now convert games up to 6.72 to be playable on 5.05 FW

The PS4 has been heating up lately thanks to the bounty that developer TheFlow was able to win and also has allowed for disclosure of his discovered bug. The discovered bug allows for a kernel exploit for firmware upto 7.02 (patched in 7.50), However this needs a public webkit (entry point) which are usually easier to obtain then a kernel exploit itself, so we should eventually see one arise for 7.02 but in the meantime developer Fire30 has already released a 6.72 webkit entry point several months ago. So this is why 6.72 is being talked about more then 7.02 as the next step to 5.05 we already have all the pieces its just putting together the puzzle and connecting them all together. There is a 6.72 Jailbreak (by sleirsgoevy) out in the wild, we have not covered it much due to the fact in its debut state and even in the current state (after some commit updates) its quite buggy / unstable and looks to be rushed to release therefore lacking some testing prior to the exploit going public. The developer did warn it may take upto 10 attempts but some4 user have not got to work at all or had many more attempts some had less . Just is not the best thing for an exploit debut as its not something to blindly install or if your just getting into PS4 jailbreaking to use on your console. (if interested here is the gihub page but be warned its quite buggy in current state and advised to stay on 5.05 at this time). Hopefully it improves in time as it seems work is being done but since its advised to stay on 5.05 still at this time We have. some new guides and information that have been released pertaining how to backport (downgrade) your games firmware requirement to be playable on 5.05 until we see a stable 6.72 jailbreak, if your games require a higher firmware (up to 6.72) then developer @flatz (released Scripts) and then developer @zecoxao (tutorial) has perhaps provided a solution that works for you as the devs provide a wayto play your content on 5.05 that otherwise could not boot, so you do not need to update yet (until a stable jailbreak arises) and can still play your newer games you purchased.. In time we should see some automated tools (update see link): to make this an easier task for noobs who may not be comfortable with this method quite yet.

PS4 [UPDATE] PS2-FPKG (v0.3) & PSX-FPKG (0.2) - New tools to convert PS1 or PS2 games for PS4

Our good friend and developer @kozarovv has recently shared with us two projects from developer Jabu . Recently we seen the first tool and that was PS2-FPKG and that is a tool that converts your PS2 games easily for use on the PS4 (jailbroken) system, now with that tool residing at version 0.3 the tool is becoming a popular choice fast. Some of the features and support include converting PS2 ISO/BIN files. The tool comes equipped with some customization like changing the Game Icon, Backgrounds, Multi-disc creation and also several other customization that include emulator choice custom Configs and more can be seen in the details of this tool in the first tab below:
To follow that release up there is a tool called PSX-FPKG and this one is to convert PS1 games for use on a jailbroken PS4 (Currently only 6.72 is supported with the only 6.72 exploit is one that very buggy and not recommenced at this time as its very unstable and seems not to be tested well or properly debugged before release to the public - UPDATE: Now 5.05 is supported as well!) . This tool is only at v0.1 but has some great features out of the gate as outlined in the 2nd tab, see all details in the tabs below for each tool
PS4 PS1 Emulation gets native support on PS4! Thanks to the findings by @Vitt0x_Lar_YT

Emulation on todays Sony Home Consoles wasn't always a easy task compared with the older days such for the PS3 for instance. In fact, it seems that Sony isn't interested anymore nowadays to make the PS4 a "fully" Backwards Compatible Console. PlayStation 3 Game Titles can be only "emulated" via their PlayStation Now-Service - where you already now those Games doesn't get emulated at all - and while the PS3 had many "PS2 Classics" available at their PSN Store, the PS4 share a few of them as well, but sadly only about >50 Game Titles and the last one added was also already over two years ago. :( But luckily we have the great Homebrew Community doing the job what Sony failed to do. :) We saw already in the past that speaking of "PS2 Emulation", the PS4 can handle them pretty well unlike Sony claims (over >500 Game Titles are fully "playable" right now) and we even saw some "more unsual" methods of emulating PS3 Games with the PS4 by running the famous RPCS3 on a Linux Distribution with a PS4. But "1" Home Console was actually missing. Thanks to the newest Exploits and Jailbreaks for the PS4 on System Firmware 6.72, Developer @Vitt0xLar_YT was able to find a native PS1 Emulator within the PS4 Remaster "MediEvil" and he was successfully able to dump all the necessary Files the Community and you need to - similar to PS2 Emulation - create your own PS1 Fake PKGs (FPKG) with your own old PS1 Game Titles. So you can enjoy your old and nostalgic classics again even on your PS4 now! And yes, even the original Boot Screen is included. Nostalgiaaaaaa :P

The PlayStation 4 Hacking/Homebrew Scene has been a unique journey in comparison to other PlayStation platforms even those in the firmware era (psp/vita/ps3). The PS4 itself has been a bit unique, while development has always been there it has came at a slower pace and for a limited audience on back dated firmware releases. We have seen several exploited firmware on the PlayStation 4 (PS4) we started the show off with 1.76...

Scene Homebrew developer @OsirisX has released RetroArch (PS4) R4, since the R3 release we have seen a number of changes and improvements to the multi-system emulator that is still considered an unofficial port. While there there has been alot of cores converted to the recently released Open SDK (OOSDK) due to the Open SDK still being new and in the early phases something's like libc++ support for instants is missing support and thus preventing some libretro cores from being converted to the Open SDK currently (More then likely when everything is converted we will see this port actually become officially adopted by the libretro team). This release is built on v1.8.8 (of RetroArch) and the update also includes some new libretro core's for the PS4 (gameOS) and those include PPSSPP (PSP), MAME 2015 (Arcade), Beetle Saturn (Sega Saturn), VitaQuake 2 (Rinnegatamante's Vita Port) , Opera (3d0) and various other retro console from the past as seen in the listing of new cores included. This release also include some new features as well, the complete list of new inclusions can be seen in the details provided in the R4 release notes below. Some of the highlights are dynarec support for the Flycast (Dreamcast), Also Mupen64 Plus & Parallel64 (Nintendo 64) have increased performance with support of

.Developer Rinnegatamante whom we recently interviewed in the Power Supply Series and who has ported a Nintendo 64 emulator to the PS Vita / PS TV recently with the release of Deadalus x64. Has another emulation project that many will be excited for as this shapes up, especially after seeing the great progress of d x64's n64 emulation so far to this point. Now ReDream (A Sega Dreamcast Emulator) is being ported to the PS Vita as a libretro core running on RetroArch (Vita), so far its early progress, However, it looks like potential could be untapped from a developer who has some experience with the platform and emulation porting.. So far its rendering of graphics are in the early stages, so stay tuned for more progress reports from the developer.. Until then tell us in the comments below what is your favorite Dreamcast Game or memories from SEGA last hardware adventure.
PS3 ManaGunZ v1.38 - 4.86 CFW (CEX) / HEN Support + Picture Viewer + several fixes from developer Zar

Following the previous update of ManaGunz, homebrew developer and creator @Zar of the project has updated the popular ps3 homebrew to version 1.38, this update provides full 4.86 support (CFW CEX + HEN). Also in this update an added feature for viewing pictures (PictureViewer) in various formats that include DDS / GTF / BMP / WEBP / TIFF / GIM / TGA and other's as well. This update also provides several fixes; now in the file manager within ManaGunZ the scroll bar is now visible, also a fix to a language bug has been provided. See all the changes in this latest update in a popular AIO homebrew manager. multiMAN and IRISMAN are great choices as well for the PS3 but ManaGunZ is a popular choice as well. All 3 apps give a very diiferent approach and unique experience and also exclusive features. Developer @Zar still have plans for the project and some features in development did not make the cut in this version but could seen possiably in a future update as the developer states with this release here in the psx-place forums that " The features I was working on, like dump BR, are disabled because I didn't finish yet.". So that is something that hopefully we see from this hobbyist developer when time allows. Until then checkout what the developer has brought us in v1.38 below in the included changelog
PS4 Developer @TheoryWrong talks about "OrbisSWU" - An interesting approach for Downgrading your PS4 ???

Remember back in the old days when instead of installing an Kernel/Web-Exploit like nowadays, you asked "how I can install an Custom Firmware (CFW)" or something like "how I can Downgrade my Console"? Of course, todays attempts aren't that bad since you get a similar functionality in terms of running Homebrew for instance, but not quite for 100% compared to the old days. Especially not when we talk about the possibilities of modifying a PlayStation 3 compared to the PlayStation 4 today. In fact, there was a time where everyone wanted to "Downgrade" his/her PS3 from an higher System Firmware (OFW) to bring the functionality of Homebrew back to their PS3. Or can you remember when your Blu-ray Drive wasn't working anymore due to its age or because of an failed Downgrade process so everytime when you wanted to install a newer, higher CFW, it failed with displaying an error message and you had to install those "noBD" CFWs? While the latter one was already achieved for older Firmwares below <4.75 in the past, it will be still interesting to achieve both a Downgrading possibility and a "noBD" support for higher Firmwares on a PS4 as well. The good thing is, well-known Developer @TheoryWrong asked the same question to himself. And it gets even better; he is ready to show his progress so far So lets have a look at it. :)
